Schiavos Don't Know Where Terri's Ashes Are (Schindlers Don't Know Where Terri's Ashes Are)

MIAMI - The family of a severely brain-damaged woman who died after her feeding tube was removed in March said Friday they still have not been told where her remains will be laid to rest.

Terri Schiavo's parents and siblings, who waged a lengthy court battle over her end-of-life wishes, said on Fox's "Hannity & Colmes" show that her husband is keeping her remains from them.

"They were supposed to tell us, and we still have not heard from ... Michael Schiavo where Terri's been laid," said Terri Schiavo's brother, Bobby Schindler. "Our family expected this. Michael has disobeyed court orders throughout the ordeal and continues to do so today."

Michael Schiavo is under court order to notify the Schindlers of his plans for a memorial service. He has had his wife cremated and has said her ashes would be buried at a family plot in Pennsylvania.

George Felos, Michael Schiavo's attorney, did not immediately return a call Friday night seeking comment.

Terri Schiavo, 41, died March 31 in a Pinellas Park hospice, 13 days after her feeding tube was removed by court order. She suffered brain damage in 1990 after a chemical imbalance caused her heart to stop.

She left no written instructions in the event she became disabled, and her husband said she never would have wanted to be kept alive in what court-appointed doctors called a persistent vegetative state with no hope of recovery.

The Schindlers, however, doubted she had any such end-of-life wishes. They maintained she would benefit from rehabilitation, despite most doctors saying her condition was irreversible

"...but the fact remains that Terri put herself in the position she was in because of the choices she made for herself."

Are you suggesting that every woman (including me) who once made a bad marriage choice deserves to die for it? Sure sounds like that is what you are saying. I expect this kind of thought from the Taliban and the Iranian mullahs, but find it surprising coming from someone living here. I guess I should not be surprised at anything anymore, but I still am. This (Terri threads) has truly been an eye opener for me.

Feeding tubes is ok for 15 years when you are in a PVS? I assert that the majority of people will go for option A.

It's beyond your ken that some people can accept this. The Schindler family was begging to take care of Terri. This was a very honest desire. Hardly an absurd one. We can argue the particulars but I don't have a suicidal bent. I want to keep going. There's an undercurrent of suicidal thought and death acceptance in those who take Michael Schiavo's side. Can you actually believe that beast's court testimony when you see how he behaves with the Schindler family? I'm not a super pro life person but justice was not served in Terri's case.

How do you keep a memorial service of this nature quiet and from public knowledge with all the media play that has been given to this case?....

That is what happens when one chooses to kill non-dying, handicapped, "troublesome/bothersome" wives.

Wonder why public knowledge cares?

Well, I don't watch any of the shows you mentioned. But the story was in my small local paper in Ohio long before the Congress got involved. And I'm not interested in crimes. etc. the way Mark is. At any rate, the whole Mark book thing is just another example of the circus that has reolved around this case., including Hannity. If you choose to put much faith in what he writes, you are the one who has watched too much television.

Wouldn't it be a perfect world if all the pedophilic child murdering scumbags would have an instanteous brain zot and refocus their evil intentions to the Mike Shievos(sp) of the country.

Happy Mothers Day to all my fellow Special Moms who care for their disabled kids/adults.

From one proud Big Mama!

Of course that is an opinion, and not a very enlightened one, at that. I presume that it is based on a belief that the person is comprised of certain brain cells and that without those cells there is no person. That is what Chris Matthews kept saying. It seems to me that we cannot know what Terri was experiencing, because she did not communicate it well. Hence, there is a danger of misinterpreting our unknowingness with her beingness. That's pretty arrogant.

When spouses die, does that mean you stop loving them? This is something you nor I have any understanding of.

Michael Schiavo probably never had any real love for Terri. He probably flushed her ashes down the commode as soon as he took them home.

That is one hell of a thing to say about anyone, like them or not. Shame on you. I know why I spend less and less time around here. Good God!

Then work to get the laws changed

Please. Trying to change the law in the USA--or even on the state level--is like trying to get the Mississippi River to flow AWAY from the Gulf of Mexico! LOL

I guess I am just not so quick to deem people "vegetables" or "the living dead" as I used to be. Having seen death and then new life up close and personal, I have a renewed reverence for life.

The fight served "no purpose"?

Just how do you come to that conclusion? Because it did not change the minds of the Michael supporters on FR?

Maybe we don't post our opinions to "appease" the Michael crowd. Maybe this is a free opinion internet site and we have the right to be upset about something as you have the right to post against it. Ever thought of that?

"That is one hell of a thing to say about anyone, like them or not." I'm sure I've said that Saddam Hussein murdered thousands of people and had them buried in mass graves. That is a terrible thing to say about someone I've never met, and I am deeply, deeply, sorry.

One more thing that needs to be discussed. If you decide you want to be kept on a feeding tube indefinitely. Who pays for it? You wanna pay 70% of your income in taxes to keep bodies functioning? There will be no choice but for socialized medicine. You guys would be the first people screaming when taxes are raised. So which is it?

Sociopaths are above the "law." Applies to the triuvirate of evil here: the evil Michael Schiavo, the utterly corrupt, sleezy and bizarre Felos, and blind judicial tyrant Greer.

Yes, Terri put herself in that position because she chose to marry an absolute control freek and had not yet had time to divorce him.

Based on that fact, the law was right to kill her as we all know, only husbands can determine the fate of a bedridden wife.

I feel very sorry for a person who cannot tell the differnce between a circus and a serious national debate on moral, and legal questions that concern us all.
