There was a time in which the Church nearly put to death Galileo, one of the greatest intellects in history for saying the obvious, that the Earth revolved around the sun

And today, the pendulum has swung the other way, where evolution belongs in the stone age. New sciences are opening the door to something even greater.

"New sciences", as in the plural??? Interesting usage! At any rate, please inform me of these new "sciences." I have no idea what you are referring to.

"There was a time in which the Church nearly put to death Galileo, one of the greatest intellects in history for saying the obvious, that the Earth revolved around the sun."

"Evolution is a fact".

The guild professors of that age were Galileo's nemesis; that plus his own (frequently justifiable) arrogance, which occassionally insisted on pressing assertions he was not really able to defend logically with the physical evidence directly available to him. The offended professors, clutching tightly to their Bible (but more importantly, to their Aristotle and to the dignity and authority of their academic robes) were out to crucify him; his many friends, including the Pope, parried their numerous thrusts and he survived. "The Church" is like "The Corporation"; far from a monolithic entity.

Without considerable elaboration, e.g., a careful definition of the term "evolution", the second statement is void of meaning.

These are the kind of superficial arguments I see in these discussions. A pity, since there is a lot worthy of careful consideration.
