Do you stand to make money from this or do you always blindly support the government.

I'm hoping it's the former - that I can respect.

National security is a joke.
Did you see the carnival when the bottle rocket went off in a potted plant this week?
We're doomed already.

Bush Salutes Soviet Victory in Red Square By TERENCE HUNT, AP White House Correspondent
50 minutes ago

MOSCOW - In a once-unthinkable setting for a U.S. leader, President Bush took a place of honor on Red Square amid symbols of Soviet power Monday and saluted the greatest military victory of an empire formerly regarded as America's most-threatening enemy.

Tanks rumbled on the streets and warplanes screeched overhead as Bush and his wife, Laura, joined a long list of presidents, prime ministers and dignitaries at a grand parade celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Allied victory over Nazi Germany. The Soviet Union paid the heaviest price of all the triumphant allies — nearly 27 million soldiers and citizens killed in what is remembered here as the Great Patriotic War.

Bush watched goose-stepping soldiers and flags emblazoned with the Soviet hammer and sickle that recalled the days of communist rule. He sat beside Putin on a reviewing stand next to Lenin's tomb.

White House counselor Dan Bartlett said Bush was not uncomfortable with the trappings. Bartlett said it "demonstrates how far we've come in the world" after the collapse of the Soviet Union and the end of the nuclear-tinged standoff of the Cold War.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm..........

If an author makes a claim, such as President Reagan signed an agreement that merges our school system with the Soviet's, then it is up to that author to prove this.

I suggest you read her book.

Freepers have, or at least, used to have a lot of respect this for this lady and her expose of the public school system.

She is spot on with her book (Deliberate Dumbing Down of America) and is spot on here.

We are in the final stages of becoming a police state.

I welcome the national ID - it is long overdue.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, and if you prefer the tranquility of servitude rather than the animated contest of freedom, then go home in peace. We seek neither your counsel nor your arms"

"But bend down and lick the hands that feed you; and may your chains rest lightly upon you. And may posterity forget that you were our countryman."

- Samuel Adams

Common sense. Are you really that blind to subtle attacks on your freedom? Its like outlawing bullets and saying that isn't impacting your right to bear arms, just bullets. You republicans are a sharp bunch.

And the people who are all for this now would would the be the ones screaming the loudest if this had happened under Clinton.

As long as the Republicans are in power, it's all good.

The real question is, how will a real ID that is impossible to fake help control and/or find the illegals?

Only if Washington finds the will to use it as part of a much broader enforcement effort both within our borders and in workplaces.

Your quote of John Adams has no logic as a response to my statement ... please state your argument.

So you are making some statement about the USA and Russia being in cahouts on something? Sheesh ....

Let's not comment on the fact that Bush made it clear to the whole world (for the first time of any president) that we were wrong at Yalta to give in to the Soviets. For the first time of any sitting President to visit Latvia and to do likewise with Georgia, two small democracies, clearly making a statement of support (and in opposition to Yalta) to the Russians. But let's instead paint some 'sky is falling BS' from an out of context extraction from a news article about Bush being in Russia ... Hmmmmm is right.

Your tin foil hat is tipping ... be careful.

Do you stand to make money from this or do you always blindly support the government.

Neither ... this is simply overdue. It needs to be done with care but it needs to be done. If not, then simply require everyone to get a passport and we can carry that as a form of ID for getting on planes, buying guns, taking flying lessons, etc. I would be happy with either ... But we have a problem and it needs a solution. Status quo ain't cutting it.

A driver's license is only required for the privilege of driving, but one can obtain a state ID for transactions.

You bring up another issue, driving is not a "privilege". Do I really need to go into this? What is the chance you will even grasp the most basic concept of liberty? The taxpayers pay for the roads. The taxpayers have the right to travel.

Its not as if there aren't about 20 million illegals already driving on the roads, so please don't tell me how civilization will come to an end if everybody doesn't have a license. When my mother got her driver's license she paid a fee and was issued her license at a drug store. Like buying a fishing license. There was no driving test, etc.

You can't be free if you are afraid of your shadow.
