Well, you can all relax. While ROTS isn't a masterpiece, it's pretty darn good.
I managed to slip into a preview showing earlier today and had a thoroughly good time. Yes, it's pretty grim in places. Yet if anything, I'd say it wasn't grim enough.
The opening battle will have your jaw hitting the floor. Wall-to-wall butt-kicking on a cosmic scale. And the betrayal of the Jedi...well, it really, really hurts. Even when you know it's coming, it hurts.
Oh, yes. This one's a keeper.
LMAO. I think it's just as cheesy, if not cheesier, than the Clowns version.
What on earth has John McCain got to do with this?
As for your kids, this movie does get kinda violent in spots. Not a lot of bloodshed, exactly, but I don't think I'm giving away any secrets when I say that Darth Vader gets messed UP.
Oh yeah, Star Wars was great, truly historic. I was three when it Star Wars came out and my whole childhood centered around it. It's like imprinted on my deep psyche. But as much as I like the Star Wars, I think Empire Strikes Back is my favorite. The snow planet sequence at the beginning (I can't remember the name of the planet) with the snow walkers (or whatever they were called) is just amazing. Sky City was fun to look at, too. It was just a really nice looking movie. Plus there was lots of pre-CGI Yoda, which was cool.
That's what makes the Internet such an attractive medium for "acquiring" movies. ;^>
"I'll wait for cable, just as I did for AOTC."
And how much does cable pay GL to broadcast it? And how much do you pay to get cable?
"I don't think this movie will be all that big a hit."
Don't under estimate the power of the darkside.
"Thirty seconds of interaction between Hans Solo and Princess Leah is worth more than the last two movies combined."
And it seems you even missed those 30 seconds because if you were really paying attention you would know it is Han Solo and Princess Leia.
Accept my apologies for the mispellings!
(I think I got'em right phonetically, though ;)
I'm not so concerned about Jar-Jar. I still want to know if the butler did it?
Apology accepted. Be grateful I'm more forgiving than Darth Vader or the Emperor.
I agree. Though I was somewhat disappointed in this new movie version. It seemed to take a 90 degree turn to parts unknown as soon as Zaphod pulled that cube out of his pocket.
I loved the old TV version and the only flaw I can name is the low production values. In fact, if it weren't for such high production values and great CGI, I would be totally disappointed in the movie.
Boy, your standards and expectations are set pretty low...
Don't lump Northern California - which oddly enough, has somewhat right-leaning filmmakers - in with the megastudiodolts of La-La Land!
Lucasfilm (with this film, at least), Pixar, and (at times) American Zoetrope haven't forgotten how to make a film that rises above mere commerce and transcends into culture.
I'll see your ROTK and raise you one HHGTTG.
Kinda like a take off on Jar Jar at the Junkyard on Behind the Magic CD making of Ep. I.
" ... if it was made in California, I don't even consider it."
Then you're safe seeing ROTS because it was made in Australia.
I seem to remember that ship in the PC game, "X-Wing Alligance."
Oh, I'm definitely grateful.
I realized yesterday after I hit the post button that I had added an "s" to Han (I thought I had gotten Leia's name right). Since then I've been a little worried that the SW fanatics might send a bounty hunter after me for my mistake. So, yes, I'm grateful that you've chosen the path of mercy this time ;)
I've heard ROTS is better than Ep. I and Ep. II and better than Ep. VI. Give it a chance. You never know.
