The Tories need start with this and work hard to win new people over to their ideas and way of thinking. Every country is different, and the road map toward creating more Conservatives will be different in the UK than it is in the US. Nevertheless, we're talking about a chess game where we go from one issue to the next, presenting ideas and solutions, and making sure to differentiate ourselves as conservatives, what it means to have conservative ideas, and why those ideas are superior. We US conservatives fight this fight daily, and the UK Tories will need to start doing the same thing. That's not to say they aren't, but now that you have made inroads it's important to build momentum when you can. There are only so many opportunities that arise, and this is a key one.
It's a new day, and a new Parliament. Tempus fugit.

Margaret Thatcher won back to back to back majorities on being nothing less than a hard-core conservative and would have undoubtedly kept going if those Euro-loving boobs didn't revolt against her. Like FReeper watsonfellow said correctly, that was the turning point in the Tories' electoral fortunes. It is entirely up to this new Conservative leadership to find a set of principles and stick to them. If they cannot, they will slip further back into the ditch. If they grow a collective spine and charge forward with a solid agenda, they will be rewarded at the ballot box.
