I'm not sure how the Labour Party of Tony Blair is any different from the Torie Party of John Major/Michael Howard. Both are mushy moderate friends of the U.S. on foreign policy questions, but who also believe in domestic Socialism - just not the hard core variety Socialism.

There isn't a dimes worth of difference between the two.

There's a huge difference - government spending and regulation has exploded under Labour rule - we've lost 1 million jobs in industry since they came to power, and added 850,000 government jobs. 66 separate tax rises have occured - albeit quietly, and using a variety of methods, one of which is to increase what we call "National Insurance Contributions" (sort of like Social Security taxes). Furthermore, Labour has cut defence spending.

The Tories will cut taxes, cut bureaucracy, cut spending (at least increases), secure the borders through controlled immigration (one of the centrepieces of their platform), reject the EU Constitution (something Labour wants us to swallow) and increase defence spending.

To say there's no difference is disingenuous. I agree that the Tories haven't been strong enough in pointing out the differences.

Regards, Ivan
