"Maybe they need a huge public works project, like building a new canal to connect the Pacific and the Gulf. Maybe they can do it near the southern border where it's narrower, and then we can have a new natural boundary for when we eventually annex Mexico."

Now this folks, is one great idea! Reduce shipping costs and time while creating a more secure border. We might want to stock the canal with sharks and I don't mean lawyers.

I think Mexico can rehabilitate itself with a national public works project like the highway works that we had in the 1960s. Just think of all the jobs that a pan-Mexican canal would generate, and all the training and new skills developed.

Plus, it will draw people from the north down to the south, away from our borders.
