I also found her speech to be very well done. Except for 2 remarks. I don't understand the vitriol against those who took exceptions to those remarks. Big deal. I still like her. My opinion is just that she said a couple things I felt were out of place. Why the hatred for those who didn't like her remarks? Why the comparisons to the Taliban? Really, really wierd.
My problem is with those that wish to make this a national disgrace. Those that believe the first lady is 'white trash'. Those that have outrageously suggested the mid-terms of '06 will be lost because she mentioned Desperate housewives.
If the majority of dissenters simply didn't like the jokes, I don't think this would be an issue. The issue has arisen because the majority of dissenters have gone completely overboard and want to take the reputation of Republicans and Christians with them. It's gotten way out of hand and I question the agenda of the majority engaged in this.
You're just late to the party if you think the vitriol is coming from only the side that actually laughed at the jokes. What you are seeing is the rebellion against the first threads on this, where the first lady was called a whore and admonished for unsubmissively interrupting her husband.
That thread got pulled after over a thousand posts of that or I'd prove it.
I'm really the wrong person for you to be posting your response to: I thought Laura Bush was an ABSOLUTE HOOT in that roast. She delivered! Some folks didn't like it. So it goes. I hated the film ET. Everyone else loved it. There ya go...
