I'm referring to the actual extreme right, you moron. I am a Republican. I'm talking about the fringe lunatics who want to throw President Bush overboard for inviting Clinton to help with the tsunami relief effort. Or call the first lady a whore or a number of other horrendous things I've seen written about her because they didn't like her jokes. I don't mind if you didn't like the jokes. I do have a problem with anyone who would trash our first lady because of that, though.
Exactly. The ones who claim to be "the base" but aren't.
Hey, thanks for the gratuitous name-calling! I'm sure you've condemned Howlin and Peach's remarks saying that the "exteme right" has taken over the GOP, and calling them the "Taliban"?
You can't have it both ways: either the "extreme right" is just a few nutcases who post on FR, in which case they're just "fringe lunatics" on the FRINGE -- or they're powerful forces fighting for control of the GOP, as Howlin and Peach allege. If they're that powerful, they must be talking about the Christian Right -- the people who don't want Terri Schiavo killed (as Peach ardently advocated), the Catholics who think John Kerry & Co. should be denied Holy Communion in keeping with canon law, and yes, the people who worry about the coarsening of our culture.
If you read the comments you'll see good people who think those off-color jokes were inappropriate and beneath the First Lady. Others like myself think the occasional off-color joke to be fine -- after all, it only has humorous shock value if it's an occasional thing. Good people can disagree on this without bigots calling Christians "Taliban".
