Do we know this guy is for real?I can personally vouch for Captain Mike. He's got a real young sign-up date, and so do some of his early pings on this thread.
He is the real deal.See also the thread that I just posted before I found THIS thread:
PRAYERS NEEDED:
FReeper Socomofficer [US Army Captain Mike] seriously wounded in Iraq
e-mail from one of Captain Mike's men | May 3, 2005 | FReeper Socomofficer [US Army Captain Mike]

To follow is a very troubling e-mail that I just received from one of Captain Mike's men:
My dear friends,
I forgot to duck. By the time most of us read this I will be on my way to Germany for treatment. The doctors have decided that I'm too severely injured to continue my job. I don't know when I be back stateside but I will let you know.
Michael Pierce
CPT, US Army
This message was dictated to me before the captain lost consciousness. I'm not a doctor so I can't tell you his condition. I can tell you that he did it right and saved the lives of several men in the vicinity. The unit sends its sympathies to his friends and family.
Personally, I found him to be the finest officer that I have ever known and am honored to serve under him. Again, you all have our thanks and our sympathies.

I know you and I respect that.
FWIW. I tried to look up both Captain Pierce and 1LT Owen on AKO. No Joy. I've not had any trouble looking up folks who I knew were in the Army, including my nephew who is deployed to Southwest Asia as an activated reservist. I also had no problem finding a gent that some folks needed contacted on the Air Force equivalent site.
In looking, I did not use first names, but just last name and rank. Gots lots of CPT Pierces and 1LT Owens but none with the right first or middle names.
Move me to the skeptic column.
