The war is over for me. I'm coming home soon.

My fellow FREEPers,

I know it's been a while. Well i forgot to duck. By the time most of you see this I will be on my way to Germany for treatment. The war for me is done. My men continue to do the job. This last rash of bombings and attacks are being under reported and I don't know why. Al Queada is getting desparate. I don't know when I'm will RTS. But I do imagine that it will be soon. God I love wireless. LOL! Please keep praying for us.

I have FM'd with DFU about this - he met the guy that was on Hannity's show, but from what I understand that's as far as he was going. I don't know if he's certain that this guy in the pic is the same guy who's been posting on FR or not. I don't think DFU knows much more than the rest of us, but I could be wrong.

My question should he be a fraud is what compels someone to do that? Low self esteem? I dont get it

Thanks for answering my questions. I just hate to think another person is preying on the goodwill at FR. I know it happens, I just don't like it. Harumph! :o)

I'm in that boat with you. My bro came home from a year in Iraq about a year ago.

Check your FRmail...I found a spreadsheet online with his military email address, etc. I'd rather not post it here.

"I dont get it"

I don't get it either, why would someone pretend to be what they are not? As I have said in this thread previously, I am skeptical. An Officer going to protests is just not likely, IMO. We have not heard any updates on the conditon of CPT Mike, don't you think we would have by now?

Gummy and all,
If that guy is the same as our Mike Pierce, it is even more despicable because he is portraying himself as an officer of another service and he is trading on the good name and reputation of warriors currently in the fight without sharing the real day to day risks and year to year sacrifices.

No one who serves honorably in uniform, whether for 2 years or 38 years, has to carry any shame in what they do to contribute to the mission. We alone have a global military which has real global responsibilities and worries outside of the current war. Not everyone can be a Special Missions Unit operator. We need good truck drivers, cooks, riflemen and even USAF contracting officers.

This guy has some serious low-self esteem issues.

As for all those who met him and saw his ID card (which, unless it is the new CAC card is/was not too hard to fake), until very recently, all frauds perpetrated their actions in person, mostly just telling stories at the bar or the VFW, or American Legion hall but some of them were fairly sophisticated and had uniforms, ribbons and even fake documents, thereby being able to hoodwink veterans organizations and even politicians.

Google "fake SEALs" or "fake POWs" or "fake Medal of Honor" just for a start. Jug Burkett wrote a great book on the phenomenon about 6-7 years ago from the Vietnam era.

This thread has had a lot of 'views'. I have never looked at these statistics, is this the norm for a thread that has 286 posts?

This thread has had MANY more "views" than similar threads often do.

See, for example, the thread statistics HERE:

I don't know if he's certain that this guy in the pic is the same guy who's been posting on FR or not.
All that I know for certain is that all of the e-mail from "Socomofficer" that I have posted on this forum have come from the same (non-military) e-mail address that I got from the man who calls himself "Captain Mike Pierce" and who at least one time posted here as "Socomofficer."
The SECOND posting on Free Republic from "Socomofficer" [this thread] and the most recent e-mail from the e-mail address given to me by "Captain Mike Pierce" may have both been posted by one of his men, after he was injured, and presumably transferred his e-mail and FR password and user name.

And all of the images of "Captain Mike" posted on this forum from the Oscar FReep in Hollywood and from the Sean Hannity event in Redondo Beach are all of the same man who gave me that e-mail address after the Oscar FReep.

I have also been at several pro-Bush rallies with him in Santa Monica, where I understand that he has been an active participant for several months PRIOR to my meeting him there.
FWIW, I did not personally inspect his military credentials, nor did I commission an FBI investigation into his childhood indiscretions.
It is so HARD to get people off their butts, and out from behind their terminals to actually engage in "street action" FReeps, that I generally do not give them the "third degree" as a standard procedure.
Yes, I generally TRUST people to be men of their word, particularly people who have demonstrated their intestinal fortitude by FReeping with us.
I am a (relatively) old dog, and have had that trust betrayed before -- so I may be wrong again here -- in trusting "Captain Mike" to be who he said he was...
...but I am not yet convinced, and unless I am, I will continue to defend my friend.

LOL!! FWIW, I'm not challenging you either - I hope this all turns out to be for real and I am assuming as much until proven otherwise. Just trying to flesh it out.

Good for you RonDog. The truth will eventually come out. We FReepers tend to be a cynical bunch at times (with good reason) when something "doesn't smell right", but sometimes our noses are messed up. If he's for real, we'll eventually hear something. And, as Star said, prayers are never for naught.

Again, I checked two different datbases and used broad search parameters. He is a fraud. The burden is on him.
Thanks. Looks like - Stolen Valor PtII

You misspelled Michael........

It made no difference to the search--I searched the Army Servicemembers database for a CPT Pierce and didn't find a 'Michael' of any spelling.

He's a fraud.

Heck--I knew he wasn't an SF officer when I saw that he was standing at attention in one of the Hannity photos! LOL
