Laura stole the show.

It sounds like you watched the show.

Did Laura Bush actually say the words in the quote in reply #12 concerning the trip to Chippendales, or did someone fabricate that quote?

I simply cannot imagine Laura Bush saying those words at a correspondents dinner.

C-Span had a repeat this morning, but I did not see Laura. (Did see Cedric though...) There's a thread that followed the dinner last night, and all the Freepers were gushing about Laura's performance.

Lots of fun to read.

I think you're missing the whole idea of the dinner and it's tradition. It's supposed to be a time of "letting your hair down". And she did it well.
