Did you have full involvement of the thyroid initially or hot spots? Back in the old days relying on the T3, T4 and PBI were about the only things available for making a clinical diagnosis. Ironically, one of the best diagnostic tools back in the late 60's and early 70's was a simple little device called a photomotograph. It measured ankle reflex. Slow, slurred reflex=hypo, fast peaked reflex=hyper.
hmpf, my mother's doctor always checks her ankles at her appt.s, might be for a different reason or both, she also has breathing difficulty...
