"I have a sneaking suspicion the parents and fiance just thought it was another case of Jennifer being Jennifer."
You're probably right and that's why the Feds were so hesitant with calling this a criminal act. No matter what reasons or excuses she may have for pulling this stunt, she should be prosecuted or some sort of punishment. They were offering a $100k award and maybe the prosecutor should request she donate the award amount to a charitable cause like the group that helps exploited and missing children.

I wasn't too impressed with the family. In the statement her uncle read, I don't believe he bothered to apologize for all the trouble Jennifer caused. I have a feeling she's a problem the family's been dealing with for years and it's just no big deal to them anymore. Unless there's a big outcry, I doubt they'll offer to pay a penny. Also, the Fox guys kept calling her beautiful. I mean, she's attractive maybe, but not beautiful.

Yes, but the Duluth police chief started calling this a "criminal investigation" a couple days ago. So now all of a sudden, it's not criminal anymore??

I have a sneaking suspicion the parents and fiance just thought it was another case of Jennifer being Jennifer....You're probably right and that's why the Feds were so hesitant with calling this a criminal act. This kind of stunt also harms the cause of other, legitimate disappearance cases. How many people perish because the authorities choose to wait for the apologetic phone call?
