FABENS, Texas - Two Mexican men were arrested for allegedly smuggling 37 pounds of crystal methamphetamine over the U.S.-Mexico border, Customs and Border Protection officials said Friday.
Roberto Lopez-Castillo, 23, and Antonio Duran-Ramo, 26, were in federal custody Friday pending further investigation.
The two apparently ditched their backpacks and darted into an irrigation ditch Thursday after realizing Border Patrol agents had spotted them. The agents found the drugs in the bag and used tracking techniques to find the men in an area west of the Fabens Port of Entry.
The drugs have an estimated street value of $1.1 million.
Good for the Border Patrol.
Holy Cow! That's a lot of methin' around!
NAFTA at work
How do they use it?
It must cost a lot.
Dub, hit the keyword METH above. Plenty of stories.
He neglected to finalize his purchase, to the dismay of the salesman.
My husband and I were just talking about an apparent homo-homicide and he was talking to our Spanish speaking employees and the were saying that it's just utter warfare on the streets of Juarez, (just S of Fabens). All the police do is clean up bodies all week.
No wonder the Arizona senators do not want the cops stopping illegal aliens.
That's what happens when you criminalize desired commodities, as we should have learned from Prohibition.
boy, I thought we were the "meth" captiol of the world...why do we need imports????????
LOL......though he was easily tracked by the white residue falling from his $4000 suit........
yup ,...plenty of payoff $$$$$ to go around
Crystal Meth is the poor man's crack
Made with Sudafed and cheap stuff.
It is highly addictive and if you don't know what it is you should do a google because it is very bad.
This drug is very popular in rural America. It cuts across all members of society. It is also known as speed.
Cheap to make with common ingredients. Fortunately, some of the outlets to the common ingredients are making a little more effort to screen. For example, lots of outlets are putting Sudafed in the pharmacy sections, where the buyer has to ask for it. They are also limiting the amount a single person can purchase.
just smuggling the meth ordinary americans don't want to smuggle.
These Mexicans are just smuggling the meth that American citizens are just too darned lazy to smuggle or make.
Eather they were using incredibly lame packs or the border patrol agents kept some for themselves.
God delivered me from a multi-year addiction to the stuff--cold turkey. It was a total miracle. GOD is GOOD!!!
Amen! I'm glad to hear of your deliverance. But if meth's illegality didn't stop you getting into it, what makes you think it's stopping anyone else?
