PCs seized in missing Ga. bride-to-be case

DULUTH, Ga. (AP) - Investigators have taken several computers from the home of a missing bride-to-be to examine e-mails for clues to her disappearance, police said Friday.

Jennifer Wilbanks, 32, was reported missing Tuesday night by her fiance, John Mason, who said she did not come home after her nightly jog in this Atlanta suburb. He said she left with only her radio and the clothes she had on.

Police found Wilbanks' keys, cash, credit cards and identification in the home she shared with Mason.

Chief Randy Belcher said investigators took three computers from the home and were reviewing e-mails.

Officers who searched Wilbanks' neighborhood were also testing several sweat shirts for any connection to the case, though the police chief seemed doubtful. "We've picked up pieces of clothing all over," he said. Authorities said they considered the case a criminal investigation, but police gave mixed signals about whether they believe Wilbanks may have gotten cold feet.

Maj. Don Woodruff said authorities did not believe Wilbanks was a runaway bride. But under questioning from reporters, Belcher later said: "It's a very real possibility she did get cold feet. I mean, how many husbands have gone out for a pack of cigarettes and not come back?"

Belcher said Mason had told authorities he would decide Friday whether to take a polygraph test.

Sorry but IMO this is not the facial expression of a person distraught "after" the disappearance of a loved one.

I can only speak from experience, but I probably would have tried to smile too. I remember when my first husband died in a car accident (I was 23 and my girls were 2 1/2 and 5 mos)I was in shock. The visitation and funeral were a blur to me. When they were over, I would lock myself in the bathroom and sob (didn't want my babies upset).

Unless you have been there, you don't know what you would do.

It seems odd to me that they found cut hair which could be a match to her and possibly her sweatshirt and pants.

How much cut hair? Maybe she DID want to disappear. Cut & dyed her hair & changed her clothes.

Did you hear Mark Fuhrman on Greta? He said that some parts of Masons statements so far don't mesh. He also said that even if the police agree to his demand to videotape the polygraph, Mason's lawyer will just issue new demands wrt the polygraph.
Reading btwn the lines i got the impression that the polygraph probably won't happen. So for what it's worth, if Fuhrman is in contact with the Duluth cops, I got the impression that the cops are going with the assumption that Mason did this. I happen to trust Fuhrmans instincts.

I don't think that is an antidepressant side effect.

I used to own/operate a board and care home for manic depressives. This was definitely one of the side effects of their meds.

---IMO, that is absurd.. to be afraid to take a polygraph test when you know you didn't do it. ---

When they're forming a firing squad for you, don't buy them the ammunition. Let them get their own.

Info on Mason's lawyer:

Apparently his name is Jim Watkins.
I looked in Martindale for a listing but couldnt find one by that name.
The only James Watkins I could find in Georgia is a judge.
(A judge who happens to be a runner too)

Judge James C. Watkins
6487 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard
Suite A
Atlanta, GA 30360

One and the same ?

Being that Masons dad is a judge, that probably is the one.
Otherwise, maybe some other high price lawyer from somewhere else.

She was tall and very thin. She could have had clothes underneath her full sweatsuit. She could have pre-planned her escape with or without an accomplice. Maybe she cut her hair, took off her sweatsuit and drove away with a new boyfriend. How would her fiance know what she left the house with? I leave the house everyday and no one takes inventory of what I took with me or how much cash I have. She wanted an elaborate wedding -- fit for a celebrity. But maybe she had second thoughts and desperately wanted out of it? Her eyes look nervous in the photos they've shown. I think she looks trapped. If she is not watching TV right now, she could be blissfully unaware that there is a manhunt on. If she is immature, she may not realize how much pain she's causing her parents. Someone who wants 600 guests and 14 bridesmaids *MIGHT* be more into Cinderella fantasy than real life marriage.

I really hope she's not dead and that her fiance didn't do anything to her. Just another scenario.

When I was a teenager, my 17 year old neighbor ran away from home. She left a note for her parents behind a dresser. (Which they never found.) She assumed her mom would find the note when she cleaned. They thought she only left with the clothes on her back. In fact, she had been planning her escape for months, had a big winter parka, and huge backpack full of stuff. As far as her parents knew, she had nothing with her. They told police nothing was missing from her room. She was gone for 2 months before turning up in Kansas.

Joke's on you. As of this morning it turns out she did bug out on the wedding. The fact that the boyfirend looked strange to many of the posters here only shows that many people react differently to stressful situations. Some people scream and cry, others bottle up their emtions, and others do other things. The only time it's reasonable to conclude, as so many posters here did, that a boyfirend/husband murdered a missing woman is a case like the Scott Peterson one where every other logical explanation can be eliminated.

Turns out she bugged out on the wedding instead of having any type of fatal encounter. However, strange as it seems, being taken by a mountain lion is possible in many rural and semi-rural areas. It's happened on several occasions in the last few years in California and they often remove the bodies of their victims to secluded places before they dine on them.

Too many people on this thread jumped to the imediate conclusion that her finacee killed her, instead of doing what the police responsibly did, viewing him as a potential suspect but not going any farther. The cops were very professional in this case and deserve praise from everybody. One can properly conclude a boyfriend/husband is guilty in a case like this only if every other logical possibility of how the woman was killed can be eliminated, as occurred in the Scott Peterson cse.

Go to the Fox web site, and watch the video/interview with the boyfriend..

Greta asked him if it was possible that she "just needed some space"...

He responds, very quickly, "she wouldn't just run away" ( paraphrase) then when asked to clarify, explains that she would remain in the house, and read a book or listen to music if she had a problem..

The boyfreind acted "suspiciously".. I stand by that..
He very probably suspected, if not knew, what had actually happened..
There was no concern she was injured or dead..

FReepers that expressed doubt, suspicion, concern, that the boyfreind was not being totally honest about his missing fiancee were Totally Justified..
Suspicions confirmed..

So, I just turned on the TV. It appears that I was wrong. I guess it takes a crazy woman to Puke the Dog.

Why the hell is she not going to jail?
