Lots of Protestants in Mexico these days as well, though not as many as in Brazil or Guatemala.

In the Northeast, that is not surprising. The last nabe I lived in (Bay Ridge) was a historically blue collar enclave where modest single family homes were going for $500K+ and there were houses $1M+ near the water. Of course the fact that the houses were being purchased by Middle Easterners and Pakistanis, while the rentals were in many cases being filled by Ecuadorians and Mexicans, did not sit well with the long time resident tavern-sports-and-cigarette-tawk-like-dis set, the latter of which is common in Danbury as well.

You's think the wealthy would take better care of their maids, gardeners and childcare workers.

I thought the lawns in Danbury were looking rather spiffy this year.

The wealthy folks in Greenwich and Westport don't give a sh-t. Places like Danbury are well off their radar screens.

What you said! There is no question at all that Danbury is considered a bad dream -- only a step above Bridgeport and a bit below Norwalk -- to the extent it enters into the Lower Fairfield County Consciousness. Their high school plays in the same league as the Gold Coast towns, but that's about the ONLY interaction for 95+% of LFC residents. The other 5% have ventured to the Danbury Mall once. Perhaps this is less true for Ridgefield and Wilton, which are closer to Danbury than to the coastline, but certainly Danbury might as well be Timbuktoo from Greenwich. I've lived here 20+ years and have been to Danbury perhaps half a dozen times: all for regional school music events for my kids.

"I agree with you, Brilliant! Let this happen in Connecticut. Maybe when wealthy bleeding-hearts....."

Bla, bla, bla...

sure.

Well most of us here in Ct are not wealthy..

I'm not a bleeding heart either. The trades and small (legit) businesses have been decimated here by the enormous influx of illegals.

Think before you stereo(type).

A walk through the Danbury Mall these days leaves me questionning what Country I'm in.

I am bilingual in English/Spanish, a daughter of naturalized U.S. citizens who immigrated here legally over 40 years ago from South America. I too, refuse to speak Spanish to the illegal immigrants I encounter. In fact, I am appalled at the unabashed and shameless false sense of entitlement that the illegal immigrants have (especially those backed/sponsored/encouraged by the Mexican government) in regards to undeserved benefits/privileges and rewards of citizenship! How dare they (sin verguenzas) demand bilingual education, driver's licenses, free medical care, free public education, in-state college tuition rates? It is an affront to law-abiding families like mine. I've done my part to oppose illegal immigration both politically and at home. I have turned away contractors who have brought crews that c/n produce any type of identification, I have reported local businesses that are hiring and harboring illegal immigrants. Everyone should report any suspected illegal immigrants or suspicious immigration activity directly to DHS-ICE at 1-866-2ICE
