Notice the Dems didn't start hyperventilating till we flooded washington following the blocking of Bolton scaring the Reps in WA with mass revolt. We, the grassroots of the Republican base, shifted the momentum on the issue back where it belongs. It's up to the Republicans to do their job and VOTE now.

I believe you are correct. I think the Republicans were going to do the usual tail between the legs and run away but the base let it be known that we are no going to take it anymore.

I know just a few hours ago I got another call from the GOP asking me for money. The poor sap actually began his schpiel with "we just wanted to know if you are happy with GOP". I went on a rant about how I am not giving one cent to a party that acts like a minority party. I told him I wouldn't contribute again until I saw some judges confirmed.

I called the National GOP Finance Office earlier in the week and asked them to remove my name from their list since I would no longer support a Majority Party that acts like a Minority Party.

I know I am not the only vocal Republican out here. They must be hearing rants from many others.

Sen. Bill Frist should "stop dividing Americans along religious lines" and "stop trying to do away with the filibuster as we know it," Democrats said on Monday, one day after Frist addressed conservatives about the Democrats' unprecedented filibuster of judicial nominees.

In a Monday-morning message to supporters, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee singled out "some of the most outrageous things" conservatives said at a Justice Sunday event, which was beamed to churches around the nation.

In its Monday-morning message, the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee thanked the 25,000 people who signed a DSCC petition urging Sen. Frist to stop "exploiting his office for political gain." The DSCC said the Associated Press took note of the opposition in its reporting on Sen. Frist's Justice Sunday speech.

"We cannot let up now," the DSCC said. "Just because Frist chose his words a little carefully last night doesn't mean that he's not still planning to bring forward the nuclear option in the next few weeks."

The message tells Democrats to "be ready" for the next phase of the campaign to retain "200 years of Senate tradition."

A vote on changing Senate rules -- to get around Democrat filibusters of judicial nominees -- could come this week.

I caught the end of McConnell.

Sounds like I saved myself a few Advil. ;-)

(I still haven't quite recovered from the Bolton hearings. Did you catch the plagiarism news on the accuser?)

I called Voinovich's office this morning and asked where he was when he was missing the committee meetings concerning Bolton. The woman said she didn't know, but said V would be mailing out letters to explain the situation - she took my name and address. I said I would be actively working against his re-election.

"March 15th, 1969 - US Supreme Court Justice Abe Fortas resigns

When a voting-fraud charge threatened Lyndon Baines Johnson's rise to power in 1948, attorney Abe Fortas lead his defense, and won him the governorship of Texas. To return the favor, in 1965, now President Lyndon Johnson, enticed a sitting Supreme Court Justice, Arthur Goldberg, into resigning from the court to accept an ambassadorship, and appointed Fortas to the newly vacant seat. But when Earl Warren decided to retire in 1968, LBJ once again decided to reward his old friend and appointed him to the Chief Justice Chair. Unfortunately, like Johnson, Fortas rise to power was packed with corruption and greed.

In July, Fortas erred, appearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee despite the fact that no sitting Justice had ever done so. During those hearings, Fortas lied to the Committee, although he had not yet been caught in that lie. The Senate recessed without voting on the nomination.

When Senator Robert Griffin learned in September that Fortas had accepted $15,000 to give some summer school lectures at American University’s law school, money that had been raised by Fortas’s former partners and clients, the nomination was in trouble. In early October, after a vote to end the filibuster on the nomination failed, Fortas asked that his nomination be withdrawn.

By 1969, further revelations led Fortas to resign from the Court. A convicted financier named Louis Wolfson had agreed to pay Fortas $20,000 per year for the remainder of his life, an amount that continued until the death of his wife if Fortas died before she did. Fortas received the first check in January 1966, after joining the Court, and though he returned it in December, Fortas's actions were condemned as ethically improper.

Abe Fortas, exposed and now a liability to the Johnson administration, resigned March 15th, 1969. His old law firm that he helped create, even refused to let him return."

They held up nominees in committee but they did not use the filibuster.

Your post is a good illustration that this is not over 'till it is over. Frist should have put this to a vote sometime ago and been done with it. It will be a constant battle to hold Voinovich et al on board as time drags on. The Bolton hearing was just a warm up to test the GOP resolve against the united stand of the Democrats. We need to unite, have the vote, and proceed before more side deals can be cut, more RINO's can be intimidated, etc.
