You would be surprised how few women breastfeed. When I had my last child, for example, out of the 15 babies born that day, only three were breastfeeding. I will also tell you that my baby would nurse well, but then sleep for several hours. The nurses tried to panic me about that because she wasn't up every 2 hours eating. The baby was sleeping and I could not wake her! They kept telling me that if she didn't eat soon, they were going to give her a bottle. I ended up telling them she nursed when she didn't, just to get them to leave us alone.

I know... I can't really say how long I would or not since I'm not a mom, but it I know that few continue to breastfeed very long. My friend didn't, mostly because she knew she'd soon be going back to work a couple days a week, found pumping too painful, and so she couldn't remain the only one who could feed baby. Another friend didn't like that she'd start to leak whenever she heard a baby cry anywhere ;~D

The nurses did the same thing to my DIL when she had her first baby...........to the point they made her cry and feel guilty.
