Well, don't wait too long!! Most dioceses have a 3-4 year preparation program. Lots of weekends, and your wife will be asked to attend several weekends with you.

At the moment our diocease, The Diocease of La Crosse, has a 5 year program.

When my husband converted in the mid-90s in California, it took less than a year. I think it's the same here in Arizona, so it depends on the diocese, I guess. Plus, he was already a Christian so he wasn't "starting from scratch," so to speak.
