Antipope is a Pope who actually goes against the teachings of the Catholic Church: There were several of them in the early centuries.

Does this then result in factionalism?

Will we be seeing Catholic "sunnis" verses Catholic "shiites"?

No, we've had Catholic Sunni's versus Protestant Shiites since Martin Luther. Before that we had Catholic Shiites versus Orhodox Sunni's. Since the latter schism is still going on you gotta kinda mix your metaphors a bit.
