I know I'm late to the party, but one thought strikes me: isn't this a rather fast Papal election?

The average time in the past 100 years has been three days. Word has it that Ratzinger had 50 votes already going into the conclave, and he only needed 77 or so total. I heard two speculations on the final vote, that he got 81 or 91 votes of the 115.

I'm just thrilled with the choice, no matter how fast it was!
