I have not heard, on any other TV station or radio, any "count" on the ballots. I cannot imagine that anything MSNBC is reporting is true. There is no probable chance that a Cardinal released that information. Only the few who are selected to count them even know the exact amount, and I doubt those Cardinals would tell.
How is this alleged fact that Pope Benedict XVI won by 4 votes is being verified? Anyone know? Did it come from a fax machine in Dan Rather's old office??

Dear CitizenM,
I'm not making any judgment as to the truth of the report, merely doing the arithmetic based on it.
I believe the ballots are actually counted publicly, in full view of the Conclave, so every cardinal could know the exact count. I'm not sure that the actual count is considered to be a secret of the Church.
