Only because I have had to deal with the issue personally. We're all sinners.
I'm not aware of earlier comments, but I'd think having a man as Pope who wasn't perfect as a young man, but who found his way to God...would be wonderful and should be a source of great hope for everyone.
I guess I get the feeling that no one else (ok, very few) thinks like that! Lots want to bash everyone that has ever sinned--I feel sorry for everyone struggling with the Church's teachings. I don't think they are evil.
