I am celebate. It is a liberating, love and peace filled life.

I understand you get laid a lot more if you are celebate.

MSNBC reports that the Holy Father won by four votes!

MSNBC making up news I see. They don't know. Only God knows. These Cardinals swore and oath of secrecy, and no doubt that extends to the vote tally. All we know is Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger is now Pope Benedict XVI.

I dont know that a priest is required to join a particular order..

Besides that there are hundreds of orders to choose from, the other option is being a Diocesan priest. That is not an order.

I read on the Fox News website (or it may have been Drudge) that he basically denounced all other Christian denominations as false. The article speculated that these views (if they are true) would end cooperation between Catholics and other Christians.

Under John Paul the Great, the document Dominus Iesus was promulgated, which re-establishes the unity and unicity of the Catholic Church. That is, that the Catholic Church is necessary and is the Church established by Christ Himself.

Other Christians, to the extent that they have error mixed in with their true teachings, are in a kind of imperfect communion with God's True Church.

So it is not so much that other churches are "false," just that they all lack the Fullness of Truth found in the Catholic Church. This does nothing to hinder our cooperation in areas where we do agree.

Fo more information look up Dominus Iesus (or Jesus) on the Vatican web site or otherwhere.

There are some in this world who are miserable and who are hellbent on making everyone else miserable right along with them. They count on YOU getting riled up. If they can't get a rise out of you, then it's no fun for them anymore. It's taken me years to realize that negative people are detrimental to my health and a waste of my time, so for the most part, I don't bother with them anymore.

You may not have been here as long as most of us, but you're certainly wiser than a LOT of us........LOL....especially me. I just have no patience with them.

And they make the forum look awful if we don't speak up.

I agree! But I did not always live by them and I certainly sin enough now. Anger, pride and judgmental thoughts lead the list before sex these days. The benefits of marriage!

: ) i have a problem when people complain about the rules of the Catholic church and think they should be changed because it is more fun to break them, but they don't want to feel like sinners. so if we just say it's ok to have premarital sex, have abortions, commit adultery etc. we can be holy AND have fun!

MSNBC reports that the Holy Father won by four votes!

That is bull... MSNBC is so low.. they think they know the votes. Wrong... The votes were burned and no one will ever know. No matter how hard they try they loose.

The vote was 3/4 plus 1 of all Cardinals voting. If 118 Cardinals voted that would mean that Cardinal Ratzinger got at least 89-90 votes.

Thank you for posting the links and for doing the research Mo1.

While it may be easy for some to become complacent thinking that truth will speak for itself, the truth must be told to those who tend to pervert it.

Yeah. A priest is ordained as a Secular Priest, or as a member of a "Regular" order, e.g. Benedictines, Augustinians, Carthusians, Jesuits, etc.

I wondered about whether he was ordained a Benedictine, as according to the prophesies of St. Malachy, he might be a Benedictine.

It actually sounded like Richard McBrien might break down and start bawling, crying, and rolling around on the floor in a fetal position.

I betcha he has a bad case of the sh*ts.
