Dear Aquinasfan,
Nice post.
I wonder why our Holy Father chose the name Benedict?

It would seem unlikely that ABC would hire or promote real orthodox Catholics. They like the CINO liberal stooges and Kennedy camp followers. Like...McBrien and Cokie.

I'm happy about this Pope, too :)
All those prophecies are a little disturbing, though. My mom used to read them.

Your links are dead.
And I believe you are incorrect. The "State Police" would be the Polizei Bayern (Bavarian Police Force - Bavaria is a state), and since Hitler didn't come to power until HH was 9 years old, his dad was probably already a member of the police force at that time.
That does not - repeat, NOT - make him a Nazi. A similar thing happened to a JEWISH friend of my dad's. He was already in the Austrian Army when Hitler assassinated Dollfuss and took over Austria. Does that make him a Nazi?
And as his district got "Nazified", he moved because he was being persecuted for his anti-Nazi views. Don't see what else he could have done.

MSNBC reports that the Holy Father won by four votes!
That is bull... MSNBC is so low.. they think they know the votes. Wrong... The votes were burned and no one will ever know. No matter how hard they try they loose.

One of my friends was on a business trip to Germany and he was still a little messed up with the jet lag. He was up late looking out onto the street and noticed a man pacing back in forth in front of his window. He started getting a little nervous thinking the guy was casing the hotel, but then the crosswalk signal changed and the man went across the street. There had been no traffic and had it been a typical US city I'm sure the guy would have crossed without waiting.

It actually sounded like Richard McBrien might break down and start bawling, crying, and rolling around on the floor in a fetal position.

I don't happen to be Catholic - but I have been taking joy in the name of Christ and the blessings of the gospel being held up on the national media! Exactly my position. :-)
I'm loving every moment of this from a very personal Christian perspective. The enemy has been turned into a witness for Christ. It's beautiful.

"he basically denounced all other Christian denominations as false."
He did denounce Christian denominations that were practicing liberation and New Age theology. (Moral relativism) As a Christian and man of God we should expect no less of him from any denomination. He is another evangelical pope like his predecessor who will teach men to both love and fear God.

I'm very glad, too, that Cardinal Ratzinger has been elected Pope. The last thing the Church needs is uncertainty and wobbly knees.
