Michael Crichton had no idea just how realistic it would be. I sincerly believe that in my lifetime I will see a T-Rex.
Once Crichton popularized the notion that this could be done, it will only be a matter of time before someone does it.
Scientists will start easy with recently extinct animals and then work their way back.

I sincerly believe that in my lifetime I will see a T-Rex. I can handle a T-Rex, but if they bring back velociraptors they will be gambling in the future of human's on this planet.

Bring back the dodo, the Tasmanian Tiger, and the North American Rhino, the North American Cheetah, the Dire Wolf, and the short face bear(Arctodus simus and Arctodus pristinus) that was the apex predator of its day.
Good times. People think they have problems with mountain lions and wolves today. Try fighting off a bear with legs like a horse and 30% bigger than a grizzly.
