TAMPA, Fla. -- State investigators found no evidence that Terri Schiavo had been abused or exploited by either side of her family, according to documents released by Florida's Department of Children and Families.
The agency investigated 89 complaints dating back to 2001, when Schiavo's feeding tube was removed for the first time and the legal battle surrounding her right-to-die case intensified.
The calls alleged that the brain-damaged woman was being mistreated by her husband and her parents for financial gain. One complaint alleged that Schiavo's parents were selling videos of her through a Web site; another said Schiavo's husband wasn't spending money intended for her rehabilitation.
But investigators said they found no evidence that either her husband or parents were exploiting her, and often noted in their records that they found Schiavo well cared for on their visits to her Pinellas Park hospice.
The agency released the records Friday under court order.
Schiavo, 41, died last month after her feeding tube was removed for the third time, ending a bitter court battle between her husband, Michael Schiavo, and parents, Robert and Mary Schindler, over whether she would have wanted to live in a vegetative state.
The repeated allegations of abuse were based partly on bone scans showing Terri Schiavo suffered fractures and statements she made to family and friends that she was unhappy in her marriage.
Schiavo's husband has denied harming his wife. His lawyer said the fractures resulted from osteoporosis caused by the woman's years of immobility and complications of her medication.
Robert Schindler declined to comment there on the release of the DCF documents. An attorney for Michael Schiavo did not immediately return calls
LOL..Thank you for that info and I think you are entirely right. I battle with some weight gain but nothing I can't take off when the weather gets nicer. But I'm only 5' tall so any extra weight looks huge on me...I'm no skinny minny but used to be in college. Only weighed 89lbs when I got married...Oh man, what pregnancies will do to you! Of course my baby is 28 now so I can't call it baby-fat!
This isn't about Greer. It's about the radiologist and doctors who treated Terri at the hospital. She did NOT have the broken bones that you and others have asserted. She WAS bulimic.
Unless you think those doctors were in on the conspiracy as well.
Just listen to yourself! Do you suppose if the Muslim terrorists in Sudan can kill 2 million Christians, and get away with it, they will not com after you, and me. Your priorities are all messed up. Too much Fox network!
The bone scane was NOT taken secretly. It did NOT show the broken bones you allege. The parents admitted under oath the bone scan was never withheld from them.
I turned Abrams off after the first few minutes of the show...whether they went to break I can't recall, but I recall clearly that he was being extremely sarcastic about those who fought to have the feeding tube reinserted. He cited Judge Greer and the release of those documents, that they'd proven one side right, the other completely wrong, and that Michael had been nothing but loving to her for years. Abrams was sarcastic and vehement about this in what I saw. Maybe the autopsy will reveal more. Who knows.
So, let me see if I have this right. It's ok for OUR government to murder an innocent, disabled woman, but it's wrong for a FOREIGN government to murder 2 million!! (Yes you read this right TWO MILLIONS!!!) of their own people in what is likely a religious pogrom that has occurred countless times through history.
You have an interesting set of ethics.
There is a saying that you need to clean your own doorstep before you tell others to clean theirs. Before we fix problems in the Sudan, we need to fix the problems we have here at home, doncha think?
I don't think we all do agree that the feeding tube was inserted in the hospital. There have been multiple freepers (not on this thread but on others) that the feeding tube was insert at a later date, after MS got tired of overseeing her care.
I don't remember the first year of the swallow test but believe it was 1990 or 1991. Doctors don't leave in a feeding tube just because ... there are tests done to see if the patient can swallow on their own.
By name only. But, I still will defend Christianity and its values, against the barbaric Muslims.
Look at the x-ray evidence of abuse..fractured verterbra, etc within 18 months of Terri's 1990 injury as reported by World Net Daily. Since she wasn't a linebacker for the Dolphins, how else could she have sustained them?
Spare me any retort that WND is biased, I don't want to hear it, after Bernard Goldberg's book on media bias.
The exaggeration of the words of her co-worker and friend, Jackie Rhodes, who gave this testimony at the 2000 trial:
terrisfight.org
She is often quoted as saying things such as, she was "worried about her going home that night" "begged her not to go home" "come over so you will be safe". But she did not say that in her testimony, even with leading questions and, as pointed out in cross exam, having embellished her story significantly since her deposition 2 weeks before. She went from saying Terri and Michael were trying to have a baby, to saying Terri and she were talking about divorce and getting an apartment together.
Danny is an arrogant little twerp. if he is such a legal expert then why isn't he practicing law ?
No bruises found in the ashes?
Don't know where you get your facts, Peach, but you need a better source.
Every one of the doctors who testified that Terri was bulimic and had a haert attack is not ever doctor who testified. Remember, Greer suppressed and sealed a ton of evidence that contradicted his preconceived notions.
The evidence is (and MS, among others, testified to this in court . . . . under oath . . . . TWICE) that Terri was neither bulimic nor had she suffered a haert attack. Her weight loss had occurred 6 months prior to her collapse and doctors found no evidence of a heart attack.
The parents raised the abuse issue in the 2002 trial because that was the first time they learned of the bone scan that had been suppressed until that time.
LOL.
Okay. So you don't want to believe any of the multiple doctor's testimony. Have you read ANY of it?
And Terri's potassium levels were NOT normal. Far from it.
There are videos of Terri during the time she was receiving therapy; in the videos she is seen swallowing on her own and licking her lips. That period --post initial trauma-- was the time she was receiving therapy and her then husband was doing everything he could to win lawsuits. As soon as the suits were won and the monies came under his control, he halted ALL therapy and even threatened people who tried to give minimal therapeutic aid to Terri. The three swallow test peach refers to were done after many months of no more therapy and are therefore meaningful only if one ignores the husbands abuse via forced neglect, since Terri clearly was able to swallow on her own when therapy was being done. But that smarmy highly selective characterization has come to be the expected operative methodology of posters wanting to slam the Terri supporters as 'not as smart' as those defending the putting down of a disabled woman by a probate judge not mandated to issue execution orders.
Yes, read World Net Daily's 15 year saga of abuse on Terri Schiavo in their website archives. Here's an excerpt:
The report of a total-body bone scan done on Terri Schiavo while she was in a rehabilitation facility in March 1991 13 months after her collapse describes what are known as "hot spots" suggestive of multiple fractures in her ribs, first lumbar vertebra, several thoracic vertebrae, both sacroiliac joints, and both knees and ankles, all deemed "presumably traumatic... Here is the unedited court testimony of the radiologist.

very good point
Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.
Why don't you read the testimony of the radiologist about her "broken bones":
