A 71-year-old bus monitor was charged Friday with molesting a 13-year-old special-needs student, and the Orange County Sheriff's Office says it suspects school officials failed to report previous allegations of sexual abuse against the man.
A video camera on the bus caught David Mosquera groping the boy Thursday afternoon on a bus ride home, said Sgt. Richard Mankewich of the sheriff's Sex Crimes unit. The incident came to light after the boy told his grandmother that Mosquera had molested him.
Mankewich said there also appear to be four or five other victims whose cases were not turned over to authorities.
"It should have been reported to us," he said.
His unit intends to open new investigations Monday, including whether school officials knew about the prior abuse allegations and failed to report them, as required by law, to police or the state Department of Children & Families.
But school officials do not know of any other abuse reports involving Mosquera, district spokesman Dylan Thomas said Friday.
"Nothing from a quick review of his record indicates anything of this severity," Thomas said.

What's really terrifying is that sexual predators, like Michael Jackson and this fiend, hide in plain sight and get away with it for years. Some are never caught.
THAT is already the way of Pinellas Florida's and its Scientologists'
bastardization of medicine and justice.
Give your grandaughter a big hug for me.
My eldest son is a psychologist who works with imprisoned sexual offenders in NZ. They're doing studies on what might 'cure' them, experimental stuff. I don't have a clue as to the details, but he's never expressed even cautious optimism. What he has said is that 99 % of sexual predators were molested as small children. The rage that results surfaces when the victim gets frustrated or angry at some other child...and he or she will molest and abuse that other child. So it's definitely a learned behavior and cyclical.
I will, and thank you. She's very proud of herself and as she grows older, her self esteem will continue to grow...as it should. It's amazing, though, that the actions of one little girl made such a difference. I hear snippets of the Jackson trial and how the defense picks apart the victims and their families, shifting the focus from Jackson's 'alleged' offenses. You have to wonder if justice will be served in that case. What's that saying? Money talks, justice walks?
Yes but heroes are still among us.
I know what will cure sex offenders. A bullet between the eyes.
God Bless your granddaughter.
Another thing that struck me about the molestations/court procedures, etc., was something I should have known already. Well, I did know, but when it's personal, you can't ignore it. That in private discussions, the D.A.'s focus was on convicting the man...that's their job, after all; but once in court where legalese takes over, the offender's rights are paramount. The victim almost disappears, especially if they're dead.
This is FL where stupid zero-tolerance rules run rampant. Stupid amoral "school" officials think nothing about calling the cops on a kid who jumps in a mud puddle and having him charged with causing a disturbance, but they all cover their butts when a serious sexual assault occurs on one of their students by either one of their own or another student. It's just as bad if not worse than what happened in the Catholic church -- just move the perps around and hope nothing happens. These creeps should all be fired.
I can't bring my former abuser to justice because of the statute of limitations. Also, I don't want some scum defense attorney making my life a spectacle which they do. The offender somehow being more important than the victim boggles the mind. The worst thing a family can do is cover it up though and pretend like it's not happening.
What do you expect? After all it is a CRIMINAL justice system.

I've read where pedophiles commit an average of 300 crimes before they are ever arrested!
It looks like to me that the person who should be the most proud of herself is YOU. If it hadn't been for the values instilled in your son and granddaughter, she wouldn't have had the backbone to stand up in court like she did.
So while you're sending her pats on the backs from all of us FReepers, save one for yourself. Okay? :0)
