As a cat pet owner I would support this with the collar restriction. But it should also be instituted for dogs. There have been several incidents in the last several years where pack dogs have attacked kids and adults. Shoot them and kill them also.

Dogs are shot on a regular basis. Dogs are also picked up by the pound, and we have to pay yearly taxes on them as well.
I opened my private season on cats years ago. I shoot dogs for chasing my horses, and I shoot cats for chasing my chickens. I hate chickens but keep a few around just because of the cat population.

Tell me you mean to shoot the pack dogs, not the kids and adults.

It used to be that hunters were required to shoot any wild dogs they observed in the woods, in some states. I don't know if this is still true or not. Packs of wild dogs are a real danger to people and wildlife.

Do any FReepers know if some states still have these laws in effect?

Shooting wild dogs is not an issue in most cases because they are viewed as a threat to people.

I have pit bulls on my street that are not friendly and the owners let them run loose. Talk about frustrating

I agree on the dogs. We just had four barbado sheep killed and a bunch chewed up from a pack of "playful" neighbor dogs. Hubby hadn't gotten his guns out of the gunhouse yet (had been away from home) and only had a pistol and his underwear on in the rain. No take downs.
