Adapt, yes. Become a locked down police State, No. Also, we have gotten the government we deserve. This is what comes from allowing our GOP to run to the center and for allowing liberals to not be prosecuted for the traitors they are.
The way I see it, if the police aren't stopping them on the border, the police will soon be stopping everyone, everywhere here in this country.
