Invoking symbols ranging from the Revolutionary War to Martin Luther King Jr., armed vigilantes are patrolling a segment of the Arizona-Mexico border and taking the enforcement of immigration law into their own hands. While they claim only to offer support to the Border Patrol, the Mexican government is on edge, human rights activists have flooded the area, and President Bush has distanced himself from the effort.

Cool the rhetoric; you haven't a clue about who my 'heroes' are, and I can assure you they would not associate with you.

and I can assure you they would not associate with you. Of course not. Liberals like your "hero's" don't associate with conservatives like me.

I think the "guest worker" plan is a very bad idea. People who live and work in the US should be full, voting citizens. The instant you create a sub-class of citizen, you start class warfare. They will immediately be agitating for suffrage.
We shouldn't invite anyone into this country who we wouldn't want to be a citizen.

I agree. Until we dismantle the welfare society immigration is no longer a benefit to this country. We once had "huddled masses yearning to breath free" coming to this country. Today those masses are yearning for freebies.
And we don't need to import cheap labor to do menial work. We have people in this country now who perfectly willing to do any of the jobs that illegals are doing.
There are hundreds of thousands of Amish and Hutterites in America and they reproduce very quickly. After we shut down the farmers who employ illegals they will be forced to sell their land and these Anabaptist farmers will buy it. The contractors who employ illegals will be forced out of business and Amish contractors will take their place.
If we had about ten million of these people we could shut down all immigration and our population would be stable.

Let's bankrupt all the tourist joints in this country and keep all them thar fureners from pollutin' our rivers and such.
Geesh.

FR is a far right website and functions as an internet center of the anti immigrant crowd. and
It is safe to say, given the support at FR, that support of guest worker plans amongst the general population would be at 5, 6, or 7 to 1.
Oh wise DP, look into your crystal ball and provide some evidence for these lines of horse manure...

I've been reading the U. S. Constitution, and cannot figure out something. How is it that we are being invaded on our southern border, and there are almost no members of Congress who are opposing this? There are maybe a handful who are vocal. What am I not getting?
The Constitution is being trampled upon. Congress, do something!

DPWhatever that means it makes more sense than anything else coming out of the Buchanalite wing of the Republican Party.

Coming from an avowed ACLU member, B58Hustler should take that as a compliment.
BTW, harrowup, is it not true, MR ACLU member, that you are spreading malicious lies around other websites about Freeper "Aunt B"?
Engaging in libel and slander is not healthy to ones wallet.
I'd suggest you knock it off, as she has a lawyer, and is seeking out your true identity.

Lets look at reality.
The 'round-them-up-deport-them' crowd from all over the internet gathers at FR and can only muster less than 1500 votes. This is in a country with a population approaching 200 million.
The grass-roots movement to seal the border can only muster a few hundred participants. Out of 200 million.
There is no one in Congress that represents your views. There is no legislation in Congress that represents your views.
You are the wacko fringe.
