Men who present themselves as nonsexual get treated as a nonsexual being by women. Anything more would be uncivilized.
Women aren't impressed with a man's "self-control" if he behaves nonsexually, they just treat him as another one of their girlfriends. To a woman, such a man is like the gay guys at the hair salon - someone to complain about their "bad boy" boyfriends to...and someone who she will run from in horror if he ever shocks and frightens her by trying to shift the friendship frame to a romantic one.
