Queen Elizabeth II delivered some extraordinary wedding day snubs to Prince Charles and his bride Camilla Parker Bowles yesterday. Her gloomy Majesty barely cracked a smile throughout the day. She never spoke to her new daughter in law and wouldn't even look at her.
At one point, the Queen frostily turned her back on Camilla during the blessing of the couples marriage.
But the worst moments for the new Duchess of Cornwall came when it was time to take the traditional family photos on the steps of St. George's Chapel. Royal aides had expected the Queen and Prince Phillp to spend at least five minutes posing with the newlyweds.
But the queen barely managed to spare 52 seconds to stand alongside the happy couple. She did not say a word to Camilla, now the country's second highest ranking royal, but spoke to her son.
Queen: 'That all went rather well.' Charles: 'Yes.' Queen: 'We are leaving now.' Charles: 'Oh, I really want a picture of us all.'
The Queen then moved quickly to stand further away from her new daughter in law, stepping around her to stand beside Charles. It was a day of astonishing put downs for Camilla, 57, delivered by her mother in law.
One observer told us: 'If the Queen had been any quicker, the pictures would have to been done on a speed camera. She looked grumpy and frosty to the bitter end.'
There were mutterings among the female guests as the Queen broke the golden rule of weddings--upstaging the bride by wearing white. Her off white outfit was almost exactly the same color Camilla had chosen for her civil wedding.
One guest said: 'She didn't join in on any of the prayers or hymms, she looked miserable.' Then, as the congregation sang 'Love Divine,' she lowered her order of service and turned her back on Camilla--even Prince Phillip was forced to shoot her a look!
One family friend told us: 'It was tough on Camilla. It wouldn't have killed the Queen to say well done. Nobody expected her to throw her arms around the woman but she was very cold to her.'
Later, things appeared to have warmed as the Queen unexpectedly made a speech at the reception--but later than cracked a joke at Camilla's expense, appearing to compare her to a horse.
To laughter from the guests in the State Apartments, she told the newlyweds, 'Welcome to the winners enclosure!' Seconds earlier, she had told the crowd that she had an important annoucement to make and then declared who won the Grand National Horse Race.
So the queen is a bitch, I'm not surprised. Hey queenie, get of their backs and let them alone!
Someone pointed out earlier that Camilla wore white to the Charles/Diana nuptials 20 years ago, the Queen never forgets!
Fast forward to 2005. Camilla Parker-Bowles was a divorced commoner. Nothing in her situation is any different than that of Mrs. Simpson, except Mrs. Simpson was twice-divorced.
All that has changed is that the monarchy has decided they will accept a divorcee, and the Church of England is willing to bend some rules.
Otherwise, the situation is exactly the same.
See post # 74.
I don't know about the rest, but Camilla is now the Duchess of Cornwall, so she's no longer a commoner. Charles is Duke of Cornwall, in addition to being Prince of Wales, so that's why she got that title. And if/when Charles becomes king, Camilla will be "Princess Consort", not a queen consort, sort of like Prince Phillip, and Victoria's Prince Albert.
The way I hear it, with regard to Mrs. Simpson, it was just a convenient excuse for him to abdicate. He was pressured into it because he was too sympathetic to Hitler's Germany, that was the real reason, from what I hear.
I read that somewhere, too, but my neighbor told me Camilla has not had any cosmetic surgery-the rumor was started when she went to a hoity-toity beauty spa to get away from the public bashing for awhile, loose some weight and get a new look with her makeup and hairstyle about 3-4 years ago. When she heard what the tabloids were writing, she even let some magazine photographer take close ups of her face and body in a bathing suit right after she got home from the spa-too soon for any scars or bruising not to show-there was none. She had changed her diet and her makeup and lost about 15 pounds, though, which makes her look more like a stylish lady than she used to-but those hats were an abomination...
Did that crest belong specifically to Diana? Does anyone know?
OK...well that settles it then.
No, controlling people like her seldom forgive anything. But wedding guests wearing white has become so common now that I can't imagine that anyone would get bent out of shape about it.
Wow that was fast!!
Thanks!
Camilla looks lovely in those photos. Charles looks very happy. Genuinely happy.
Good luck to both of them.
The crest belongs to the Prince of Wales. If Charles gave his permission to put it on the suit, no one can counteract it.
Maybe you just mean ending the monarchy but not this right?...
A brief description of the murder of the Romanovs in the basement of Ipatiev House Ekaterinburg
On the night of July 16-17, 1918, the family was awakened and told to dress. They were led into a basement room and ordered to wait for vehicles which would evacuate them from the city. For days Ekaterinburg had been under threat by an advancing counter-revolutionary army, so the family no doubt accepted the reason given for their hasty departure. Minutes passed. In time the guards re-entered the room. As revolvers were raised and directed at the family, Nicholas was heard to murmer Jesus's words: "They know not what they do." Within seconds he was shot dead.
A volley of bullets followed. Alexandra's last action was to make the sign of the cross, as was her daughter Olga's. Those that survived this first onslaught were brutally dealt with. Tatiana, Marie and Anastasia were bayoneted to death on the floor of the cellar. The fourteen-year-old Alexei was shot in the head as he lay semi-conscious on the floor clutching his dead father's coat.
"It doesn't matter to me what she does, all those Corgis will some day be mine and I will make lampshades out of them."
"I win. Ha ha ha ha!"
>>>'Princess of Wales' title pin on her lapel yesterday, this courtesan thinks she is going to be queen!>>>
She IS the Princess of Wales and if Charles becomes King, she will most likely become Queen. Even with all the hooha garbage about her not WANTING to be Queen. Balogney. She's counting down to the moment. The only reason she couldn't marry him to begin with is because she's a skank who wasn't a virgin. So she was forced to marry someone else.
If the queen had any class or interest in preserving the monarchy, she would have stepped down and allowed Charles to be king decades ago.
I hope she got a big settlement fron the doctor's insurance company.
Then I would suppose it was perfectly correct then for Camilla to wear it. From what was being said I thought it was some kind of crest that BELONGED to Diana alone. I should have known better because I think Camilla would not have worn it if that were the case. Thank you for the explanation. Appreciate it.
,,, I don't know how you could have deduced that I meant well from my comments. She looks quite good in her wedding shots, but any photos before her big day, not at all. Once again though, you're right... looks are just looks.
>>>The Queen should have stayed out of her son's love life and never forced Charles to marry Diana in the first place>>>
People here do not understand the RULES in the Church of England and royalty. Charles could not marry Camilla because she was not a virgin. Diana had to be certified by a gynocologist that she was a virgin. It was not the Queen who would not allow (and there were no laws saying he COULDN'T marry her, he just couldn't and still be in line for King) it was Charles who CHOSE to not marry Camilla. At the time, his title meant more to him than she did and he and Camilla ended up messing up everyone's lives for their selfishness.
Why is everyone ragging on the Queen? She is a Queen and controlling, but she made the best choice she could at the time for Charles since he wasn't capable to make them himself obviously.
