Prayers for TexasCowboy!
TexasCowboy has been using his hip injury as an excuse to prevent his friends from shooting his new riot gun.
Well some of us offered to take a look at it for him and he decided both a proffesional and sober opinion might make more sense.
So he found a coupon and now he is going to let some old saw-bones cut on him.
Probably a better idea than letting us do it, but a few folks feelings are still hurt!
Please all say a prayer for our Cowboy that he is back in the saddle again real soon.
ALL: A good afternoon bttt and prayers up for the COB. Hope everyone is doing well.
Anyone have an update?

Grandma didn't have any mulberry's, but my Uncle owned a farm about a 1/2 mile to the west that did have them. Grandma had the gooseberries and would make pies from them, with lots of sugar of course, and sometimes mixed with another sweeter fruit. I remember helping her gather them down by the creek (known only as "the crik!) after the cow kicked her and broke her arm. I also remember helping her catch the friers. I caught 'em she wrung their necks, and did the rest of the stuff required to convert them from feathered birds to friable chicken parts.
She also had no pigs, but that same uncle did at the place he lived on. His sons still raise them AFAIK.
Looks more like my cousin the Cheshire Cat to me. He's a philosopher and musician you know.
Although in reality I have no "Cat" cousins".
Forgot to mention that was also the place that Grandma and Grandpa moved to when the tornado took off half the roof of their house, it also shoved the barn all askew, and picked up a metal grain bin and threw it about 200 yards into the wheat field, leaving it looking like a crumpled up aluminum can.
The explanation, of course, is Miss Maggie saw that one, and all these adorable cats, and they all answered to the name of El Gato when I spoke it out loud!!
Do you perhaps have a more recent picture?
(If not, I shall accept one of Miss Victoria..:))
Mulberry trees abound across this state, too.
Brings to mind chinaberry trees,
and I found one at a Texas site, TC...
The latter often are seen in South Carolina as the only shade tree by many an old cabin/small house. Looked as if during the Depression or thereabouts (or whenever), when they were put together by the owner, there was no money for grass for a lawn, nor enough available water to nourish one -- and must have been the one tree dependable enough to grow rapidly with little rainfall, to provide much needed shade.
Many times I saw the woman of the house out sweeping the chinaberry leaves and blossoms from the dirt with a hand-fashioned broom; and chickens scratching for worms....
We take so for granted lovely grass expanses and sprinklers to beautify them.
Counting blessngs this Sabbath, I hope yours is a beautiful one, TC --
It proclaimed "HE IS LORD"
We're going to see her later today, will try to get a "fresh" one for y'all.
As for El Gato, hmm. Maybe sort of like this?
At least in my younger days?
Morning,Cowboy!
Hope all is getting better for you. Continued prayers offered for your complete healing.
Quite possibly. Texas has it's very own type of Mulberry Tree (cross fertile with the others, the Texas Mulberry. It's Generally smaller than the other varieties, and is also found in New Mexico and Arizona. Presumably it takes less water than the others. Here's a recipe TC would be sure to to like:
You will need an ice cream maker for this one, but the result is worth it. Note that mulberries are naturally sweet, so you may want to taste them to determine how much sugar to add, if any. This is a very forgiving recipe, so feel free to improvise. Warning: All of the tongues of the diners will be stained purple.
* 1 cup half and half
* 1 cup whipping cream
* 4 egg yolks
* 3/4 cup sugar (optional or to taste)
* 2 cups pureed mulberries (strained for a smoother ice cream, if desired)
In a saucepan, heat the half and half, taking care not to boil. In a bowl, whisk together the whipping cream and the egg yolks. Slowly pour the heated half and half into the egg yolk mixture and whisk until smooth. Return this mixture to the saucepan, add the sugar, and cook over medium heat, stirring continuously until the mixture coats the back of a spoon, about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and allow to cool for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
Add the mulberry puree, mix well, and process in the ice cream maker according to the manufacturers instructions.
Yield: 4 to 6 servings

Look forward to photographs of Missy V...
and the ice cream recipe sounds delicious!
Bet TC has turned a crank on an ice cream maker...
Actually the ever loyal, but long suffering, Sylvester Jr.
Suffering Succotash! I'd be surprised as all get out if he hadn't.
Still saying prayers for you TC...
I think your Chemo is coming up...
(Or is it here ?)
Wanted you to know that I will have you in my thoughts and prayers my friend!
and...love to you...

I spoke to ElRoy a moment ago and he asked me to convey this information to you all:
He has had a minor (his words) setback - He has had some flu like symptoms with a high fever which resulted in visit to an Emergency Clinic, then no sooner had he begun to recover from that, he developed an Upper Urinary Tract infection.
He has been battling this for close to two weeks and is feeling very weak, which we all know is very unlike our Cowboy!
The good news is that he is seeing an Internist today, he is up for short periods of time on crutches, although this recent bout of illness has weakened him more than he had hoped. He is working on it though, and is still getting very hopeful comments regarding the schedule for starting the Luken treatments.
I'm sure ElRoy would have written this in a much more eloquent way - but like myself, I'm sure you all have been praying and hoping for some information - God bless you all for your prayers for our friend.
Please see an update on Cowboy, Post #5239...thanks, WhyisaTexasgirlinPA!!
