Protesters in Besieged Mexican City Force Police to Retreat, Vow to Rebuild Downed Barricades

By REBECA ROMERO

OAXACA, Mexico Nov 3, 2006 (AP) - Protesters besieging this colonial city forced federal police to retreat from the gates of the state university after six hours of pitched fighting and the rector's call for an end to the government "attack." ...But this could very well be a preview of coming attractions for the US in just a few short years.

Big trouble right next door:

Leftists are still converging on Oaxaca for an apparent showdown with federal forces.

With Venezuelan and Iranian petro-dollars to support them, and Venezuela as a secure base, the leftists could easily turn this into an actual civil war. The consequences for this country would be immediate and dire, starting with a massive increase in the already enormous number of illegals pouring across the open border.
Castro, Chavez, and Ahmadinajad are planning nothing less than a full-scale invasion of the US, with Mexican lefties as cannon fodder. If Chavez gives the green light, this could easily include heavy weapons and Iranian backed terrorist gangs by the dozen.
The US Chamber of Commerce and its greed for cheap labor have created this disaster. It's true that they had a lot of help from Rodent Party multicultists, but the GOP is in power now and the USCofC is clearly behind their non-policy.
They will have a lot to answer for if the worst happens and swinging from lampposts is not an impossible outcome for them.

Sorry if this offends anyone but it pisses me off to spend almost a year in Iraq and return to find my hometown visibly overrun by third world invaders.

In yesterday's press conference, President Bush looked to his unpopular immigration reform proposals as "an issue where I believe we can find some common ground with the Democrats." Working together, the president and a Democratic Congress might be able to finish off the Republican Party.

There are so many issues. Security (if you can march an elephant and mariachi band across the border, what else could come?). Fairness. If you are an illegal you live in the shadows. If you are a disadvantaged American, you get squeezed out of starter jobs. If you are a citizen you get to pay for welfare and emergency medical not covered by employers getting rich on illegals. The same hypocritical liberals who hate Walmart and want a "living wage" are happy to hire Mexicans mow their lawns and clean their toilets.
Clearly we need a political party for those of us who want laws obeyed by all, who want to reduce the special privs enjoyed by elites, who prefer to have a less-stratified and more middle-class society, who want a pro-American foreign policy, who want honest gov't and limited gov't. In a short while we will see if that party is the Republicans. Or not."

Banks seek stake in billions sent home[to Latin America]

Martinez to become new RNC chief--at some point you have to start asking yourself why you should stick around with a Democrat-lite party.

Mel Martinez, RNC chair...Sigh...

***update: a reader notes that the RNC chair has to be elected by GOP state chairmen (they meet in January)...are there any out there who are listening to conservatives and who will oppose Martinez?...A RedState blogger calls Martinez "the Harriet Miers of RNC chairs"...send your comments to info@gop.com***

Oh, well. Michael Steele has been passed up for Sen. Mel Martinez. Yes, a squish on border security is now the RNC chair. Has the GOP learned anything?

Here's a reminder of the Center for Immigration Studies analysis of Martinez's amnesty bill:  More thumbs down from the conservative base, not that anyone cares about them anymore.

John Little is having a hard time finding any positive reaction to this announcement.

***
Related: Sen. Jon Kyl was on the Laura Ingraham show this morning--talking about a possible GOP filibuster of the Bush amnesty plan.

A Tidal Wave of Change--I agree with almost everything said here. I would add that the Republicans not only lost their vision of what we want, they lacked the policitical courage to stand up for what most of us believe.
