Gee, do you really think so? Olive trees grow in various countries, not just Italy. But certainly this cannot the only requirement for this exhaulted office.
France, Spain, Portutal, Greece and few others have olive trees. For all those of you haveing the next pope be a doddering old Italia , a strong break from the tranditions. The only true requirement is that be a 30-year-old male. Not likely, but possible.

He might have olove skin, or his family may be referred to it in the a man's name, or be from an area or cstle referred to by St. Malachy and which will perhaps to be true's in today's day. Who knows?

Pure speculation is pointlesss if we're not going to take wagers on the top seeded guys. I vote for the Latin Americans, the African, and that Ratzinger guy.

Symbolically, the olive could be a reference to any (or none) of the following:

* the Jewish race (for which the olive branch is an ancient symbol)
* Jesus’ prophecy on the Mount of Olives
* Peace-making
* Dark skin
* Italy, Greece and/or Spain
