The churches don't take responsibility like that anymore as you probably know. If I had waited for that, we both would have starved to death. My point is that there are situation where what you have said is not necessarily true. Lots of medical bills from an ailing sibling forces both parents to work. A sudden disability forces mom out of the house. Life is too uncertain not to allow for flexibility.

Unfortunately you are correct regarding today's churches. They're more interested in becoming more like society rather than giving society a rock to hold on to.
You have stated cases that are emergencies and can cause extreme financial burden. I would hope that you agree the VAST majority of situations are where people don't want to give up their "comfortable" lifestyles and possibly relocate.
