I am reading all the stories saying the Pope had considered resigning. Maybe, but I can't find it in the texts. It seems he wondered how long God would have him serve as Pope, but that can easily be a reference to serving until death.

We all kind of question our existence at one point or another. Most often, people commit suicide because they don't seek counsel of their Father. JPII probably asked the Lord how much longer God would have him as Pope, and God probably basically told him to stay with it a little bit longer, your work is not complete but it's almost done. JPII's last days were an example for us all. Much like the last days of Jesus before he died on the cross. Many often don't think about it, but, like Christ, JPII demonstrated that suffering is a gift from God.

BTTT.
Excellent, thoughtful post.
I agree.
And just think, his last word was "Amen."
