Jesus never had a "church", He was the church. He is the "Rock".He never wore elaborate robes and waved incense around. He is the only "Father". "On this Rock, I will build my church. Peter knew it was the rock of the Gospel. It didn't mean great buildings.
From a born again Christian.

The robes came from the old testament. And I'm sorry but God had an idea of how he wanted to be worshiped. This is God we are talking about. It is all in the old testament if you read it correctly. The church built churches so grand to glorify god. Also, they were built in the shape of a cross.. With high ceilings so the people would be looking toward the sky as they worshiped.

Jesus never had a "church", He was the church.

Isaiah 22

22 I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David; what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.

The vice-king of the House of David wore around his neck a pouch containing a key, which represented his position as the king's vice-king or vice-regent.

Revelation 3

7"To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.

Jesus is the eternal king of the House of David, and is "the power behind the key."

Matthew 16

19I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be[1] bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be[2] loosed in heaven."

Jesus gives the key of the office of the vice-regency to Peter alone.
