It is true. I cannot cite statistical data because most of the data is flawed. Dog bite statistics are based off of emergency room/hospital visits. Small dogs on average do not cause a great enough injury to necessitate going to the hospital, but this does not mean they do not bite just as much. However, if you are looking for information on dog bite statistics - go to www.yahoo.com and search "dog bite statistics" - they say what the general consensus is - pitbulls and rottweilers are most likely to kill humans (because they are two of the most powerful dogs) when they attack, but any breed can be violent and dangerous if made that way.
