Why? Respect for the holiness of human life. The Bible mandates an offending animal that kills a human being be put to death. Its good to see the pit bulls got the punishment they deserved.

Sorry, I didn't make my sarcasm clear. I believe the Bible also teaches that if someone knowingly owns a dangerous animal and it kills someone, they are also to be put to death. I certainly wasn't defending the mutts.

Its good to see the pit bulls got the punishment they deserved. Animals cannot be "guilty" of anything. They do not choose to do right or wrong. In fact, they are unable to make that choice.
These dogs were not "punished" any more than an unsafe car is "punished" when it is sent to the scrapyard.
