Another tragedy here is the number of elderly or disabled who will be too afraid to go to the hospital now, even for things that are easily cured.
On the other hand, an elderly woman who is very active in my association fell while walking up some stairs yesterday. She injured her arm and paramedics were called to treat her and take her to the hospital. As they were wheeling her away, she proudly exclaimed that she has a DNR order. All I could think of was that she should be careful what she wishes for. A trip to the hospital for a relatively minor injury could lead right to the graveyard in this culture of death.
