Beinart, Peter, Editor, [New Republic]
Peter Beinart will talk about the future of the Democratic Party. As well as being editor of New Republic he is a guest scholar at the Brookings Institution, where he's working a new book on liberalism.
ON Q&A THIS SUNDAY Peter Beinart Q&A is C-SPAN's weekly Sunday night interview show, airing at 8pm ET. Our guest this weekend is New Republic Editor Peter Beinart. Watch any of the previous Q&A shows on our website, where you can also read guest biographies and search show transcripts.
Moore debating Beinart? Where?
I think I will go into HGTV mode and drift off to sleep. I did a lot of outside work today.
I will check in on the Daily Talk Show thread tomorrow.
It's Bill Press with Judge Moore on "After Words" on C-SPAN2. Starting now. Gets pretty heated.
See ya and thanks for your thoughts.
"Patton" is just starting on TCM.
I'm sure there's common ground where they can both fault our president from differing points of view.
I'm sure they are quite proud of themselves for this conversation where "both sides can (supposedly) meet", albeit mainly to disparage the first US administration that even gave a sh** about the people of these foreign countries.
I got lost in some of the debate and I can't stand Press.
"Patton" I understand. BTW, it's unedited.
What's undeited, and where'd "General George S. Patton" come into this?
Gotta stay up with me. ;)
The movie "Patton" is on Turner Classic Movies channel.
I'd expect they do him justice or you'd be complaining about that.
What do I know?
Beinart is writing a bok and loking for a principled stand for liberalism in suport of national defense in the late 1940's. If he is honest he may find out that the much praised Hary Truman actually laid the groundwork for much sufering by ceding Eastern Europe to Rusia and by calling MacArthur home.
I respect your efficiency.
Beinhart's "honesty" to me is simply left-wing apologetics. I'm no fool.
You are right about the inability to type two. Must be something I've done wrong on my keyboard, but I don't know what it is.
LOL!!!
Leftists worry about Beinart because of his friendship with Jonah Goldberg but they have no need. Beinart is just your typical over-educated Trotskyite who will never renounce Marx but cannot quite figure out why the Left is such a massive failure in everything they do.
Like his boss Peretz he is a mass of unresolved internal conflicts and ambivalence. He drinks the champagne that free markets make possible but will never forgive them their success.
Umm, actually he specifically blasted those who think that the left should be close to Communism, and said that in his view the left needed to be the furthest thing from both communism and fascism. (I personally think that's kinda a silly scale, fascism and communism are virtually identical in practise, and only different even theoretically in the retoric they use, but that's not the point)
I don't agree with him on most things, but if the rest of the left thought like Beinart, I at least wouldn't be in 24hr panic mode. He at least recognize that America is not the enemy, and that we shouldn't be fighting over what America is, just what it should do.
He SAID that did he. Well that settles it. I just have to figure out what the difference is between the Liberal agenda and Communism. Perhaps gulags decorated by Martha Stewart.
