My inlaws just sold the house in Sonoma County they bought in the 70's for just under 100K for damn near $400K. They bought a place up near Tahoe for around 250K. Not in Tahoe mind you, but about 2 hours away.
Neither place was larger than 2000 sqaure feet.
My house an hour west of Chicago is about 1700 sf, and just appraised at 170K.
There's something wrong with this picture...
