"It all sucks but is not Nazi Germany. Not even close."
Not YET...
First the brain damaged, then the slightly brain damaged, then the disabled, then the "elderly" and that could be defined as anyone over 40, as the Supreme Court just decided in their allowing age discrimination suits, then those who are a trouble to the government, and on it goes.
I certainly hope we won't get to that, but nobody would have imagined, when Hitler got elected, how it will end up either.
The statements about Nazi-like behavior does NOT in any way intended to diminish the horrors of the Holocaust, it is pointing out the slippery slope.
Problem is that with the vivid pictures and the Nazi flag it does serve to diminish the horrors of the Holocaust, even without meaning to do so. At any rate, it does to me. I have to admit though that I really always seem to turn off to "slippery slope" arguments. I find them not compelling and off putting. But if you want to make them I understand. Is it possible to do so without such graphic pictures of starving Jews and the Nazi flag? As a Jew on the side of Terri and the Schindlers I find it distasteful and not persuasive. And I doubt that's just me.
The Nazis quit the euthenasia project when the Catholic Church started making noise about it. With all the noise made over the Shiavo case, our courts didn't even blink. That's scary
