Terri Schiavo Cremated Amid Family Feud

Saturday, April 02, 2005

TAMPA, Fla.  Terri Schiavo's body was cremated Saturday as disagreements continued between her husband and her parents, who were unable to have their own independent expert observe her autopsy.

The cremation was carried out according to a court order issued Tuesday establishing that Michael Schiavo () had the right to make such decisions, said his lawyer, George Felos. He said plans for burying her ashes in Pennsylvania, where she grew up, had not yet been completed.

Terri Schiavo's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, had wanted to bury their daughter in Pinellas County so they could visit her grave.

Terri Schiavo, 41, died Thursday after the removal of the feeding tube that had kept her alive since 1990, when she suffered brain damage that court-appointed doctors determined had placed her in a persistent vegetative state (). Her parents had fought in court to keep her alive, disputing the doctors' opinions and saying there was hope of improvement.

What--"leave Free Republic"? I'm new here, I didn't know "surrender" is in our vocabulary! Just because there are crazies posting some of these haywire comments, are we going to let them crowd us out and take over? They are infantile, ignorant, clueless, devoid of any humanity, classless and without any compassion. As my dear father always quoted "What you are speaks so loudly I cannot hear what you are saying". Well, I cannot read what they are writing.

I can only say that if I were not able to speak for myself and had not written my final wishes down for all to see, and my husband had made a new life for himself with a new family, I would pray that any decision made about my care would err on the side of life, and that God would make the final decsion. And if you don't like what the law provides, then work legally to change it. This is still America and far too many have died to keep it so--please don't dishonor their sacrifices!

I do not know much about how long it takes for a full autopsy. I did hear that the autopsy on the brain will take much longer many weeks I think.

Wasn't the Fort Harrison taken over several years back and is now the HQ for the Scientologists?

I drove by there a few years ago on my way to Clearwater Beach and I saw a number of people walking around wearing these blue outfits.

It looked weird.

For the longest time, media groups told people that Terri was on life support. Most people thought she was on a respirator or some machines. By the time people found out that it was just food and water, alot of those people had their opinions set.

Exactly. I can tell you every single person I know (except my husband, who like me has followed this for quite awhile on FR) knew JUST THAT... and no more. When I pointed out some of the things not brought up in the MSM, (and NO, not the nazi reference type stuff, etc. etc.)they were shocked.

Why did scum ball Michael get to decide how Terri was to be interred? Probably said yeah Terri told me I want to be cremated instantly.

Actually he did just that. "Right after she told me she wanted to be dehydrated to death she mentioned she didn't like bugs, yeah, so no burial for me please!... oh, and please don't tell my family where you put my ashes.... yeah, yeah that's the ticket"

That freaks me out.

Wasn't room 174 the place where they starved and tortured that woman to death because she was gonna leave their "church"?

I recall reading something like that in the St Petersburg Tribune a few years back.

Scientologists World Headquarters - Clearwater Florida - Pinellas County

Just stop in and ask for ROOM 174 : )

For anyone who doesn't know, Room 174 of the "Flag" was the room where Lisa McPherson was murdered by Scientologists through forced starvation and dehydration.

I see we had another MSM fan.. truth is actually that the earlier medical evidence has shown she did NOT have an eating disorder, even, believe this if you can, Michael himself is quoted as saying Terri did NOT have bulimia...

Always two sides to ewvery story. Now the other side. I have to give it to you guys. If other facts destroy you conspiracy, just ignore them or pretend they don't exist. Or you never bothered to fact check facts fed to you. It's easy to just spew BS.

Contrary to popular belief [misleading bits you hear from Sean Hannity types and don't bother to check], the Schindler's previous lawyers had the bone scan all along. Lawyer that filed in desparation [had nothing else] found it going through THEIR papers. Just because they did nothing with it until 2002 [after they had lost all other appeals on the merits], that makes it a 'conspiracy'? Then they used Sean Hannity types to fill your minds with THEIR story. And ignore other statements made by Dr Walker Campbell in his court affidavit [he never saw Terri - even on copy of report he gives other possiblilities for the trauma]

http://abstractappeal.com/schiavo/trialctorder11-02-scan.pdf

The Bone Scan – the court heard that complaint in 2002. You claim the Schindler’s never knew about the bone scan until 2002. Blame that on the Schindler’s and their attorneys because in court the attorneys "conceded that the report was available and was in the possession of respondents [Schindler’s and their attorneys] several attorneys over time". Apparently previous attorneys did not think it was a big deal [because it gives alternatives to 'trauma']. Attorneys in 2002 had run out of 'real' options and had to resort to desperate measures, slandering Michael Schiavo in court and when that did not work, jut ignore what the court said and slander him in the court of public opinion; much easier – but it does not win court cases – as we have seen – may be why they keep losing on the merits.

Also: You ignore the report and affidavit of two other doctors who were actually treating her and the one who ordered the bone scan and statements by Dr Walker Campbell in response to question "that Dr. Carnahan, as her treating rehabilitation physician, would be in a better position to comment on the cause of the abnormalities in the bone scan for this particular patient than you? Dr Campbell: I would say he had a more complete picture of the patient than I."

Dr Walker Campbell testifies he never saw Terri – just did initial analysis of bone scan – yes, his specialty – but gave multiple options – but did say he thought it was 'trauma'.

So that nasty Judge Greer who has conspired all along to kill Terri ruled: In opposition to the emergency motion, Petitioner submits affidavits from two physicians at Mediplex Rehab who dispute conclusions of Dr AlanCampbell. ………….. The court concludes that it might be interesting to pursue the issue of trauma as it may have occurred 12 years ago, that has nothing to do with Terri Schiavo in 2002 and the mandate of the Second District Court of Appeals in this case rendered OCT 17, 2001.

DENIED

A few statements form Dr Walker Campbell’s affidavit [if you want to hand pick the ones you like, I can too - called fact checking]. They give credence to conclusions of doctors treating Terri.

[A] = Dr. Walker Campbell

Q. Now, the last sentence says, "Additional possibility would be neoplastic bone disease, widespread disseminated infectious bone disease or multiple bone infarcts from abnormal hemoglobin." Those are all other possible diagnoses to rule out?

A - Correct. We typically give what we think is the most common explanation for what we see based on the information that we're given and the pattern of disease that we see, and then we'll throw out some other possibilities in case the clinical picture doesn't fit because we rarely know anything about what happened to the patient. I mean, we're peeking through the keyhole of the patient's clinical condition. So we tend to throw in a few other things that might be something to think about.

Q. Might account for?

A - We don't attempt to be exhaustive because there is a list of probably 30 or 40 things that could cause abnormal bone scans of this wide nature. And because the body is very variable, nothing is ever classic, which is why attorneys make such a good living at malpractice, because nothing is ever typical.

Q. Nothing is ever perfect either, is it?

A. Yes. I had to throw that in.

[cont] Q. Is it possible that the abnormality was an indication of heterotrophic ossification?

A. I suppose with respect to the knee where it refers to the diaphysis of the distal femur only, I'm going to qualify my response referring only to that anatomic area, it's not inconceivable that it could be, but it's not typical.

[cont] Q. Dr. Walker, have you ever seen the affidavit from Dr. Carnahan that's been marked as Exhibit 7?

A. No.

Q. All right. Would you take a moment to read through the statements that Dr. Carnahan makes in the affidavit, please?

A. Certainly.

Q. You can just read it to yourself. You don't have to read it out loud.

A. Okay. I read it.

Q. Do you have any thoughts on whether or not Dr. Carnahan's affidavit is consistent or inconsistent with your review of the bone scan and radiographic –

MS. ANDERSON: Let me object to the extent that that question calls for Dr. Walker to comment upon any methods or qualifications of another physician.

MR. SWOPE: Okay.

Q. You can answer the question.

A. All right. My response would be that this is outside my area of expertise. So I wouldn't be able to comment on it.

Q. Okay. Now, when you say that it is outside the area of your expertise, what do you mean by that?

A. Well, Dr. Carnahan is a rehabilitation doctor who has the patient in front of him, who physically examines the patient and then looks for physical findings and symptoms based on his knowledge of rehabilitation medicine. And I'm not a rehabilitation-medicine physician, so I wouldn't be able to comment on this document because it is outside of my area of knowledge.

Q. Okay. I think you said during your direct examination that you never saw Terri Schiavo as far as you recollect. Is that correct?

A. That is correct.

Q. And so that would mean that you never had an opportunity to examine her?

A. That is correct.

Q. Would you say that Dr. Carnahan, as her treating rehabilitation physician, would be in a better position to comment on the cause of the abnormalities in the bone scan for this particular patient than you?

A. I would say he had a more complete picture of the patient than I.

AmishDude, do you have any dirt on him? Thogmartin is his name I believe. Is he a Greer drinking buddy? A Felos disciple? We gotta keep the conspiracy alive:)
Bottom line, if MS directly caused her condition, he will answer for it. Maybe in this life, but most definitely(and most devastatingly) in the next.
