But I think it's FL law that says that if someone has PVS you can pull their feeding tube. True. Also true that the law was passed in 1999 and signed by Jeb Bush. Those of you supporting Terri should have spent last five years lobbying the Florida legislature rather than in appeals courts. All the appeals courts can rule on is what they are given. If its so damned important then change the law and do so in a fashion that a solid majority can agree with the law.

While this again shows how a flawed law can be abused - it really points out why the husband and Felos INSISTED that Terri was PVS - because otherwise they had no law to protect them from murdering her.
And .. I do not fault Jeb for signing it, even though he wrongly assumed that dedicated professional medical personnel would not use the PVS designation as a method to kill innocent people.
Perhaps it's time for Christians everywhere to admit that SOME MEDICAL PEOPLE DO NOT HAVE A REGARD FOR LIFE. We must stop being so naive.

Yes these state laws need to reworked. For me I am very uncomfortable of the withdrawal of nutrition and hydration form an innocent person who is not terminal. At a minimum the fact finding of PVS/or not should not remain solely within the decision making of a single judge. Maybe a unanimous opinion of a board of medical experts. The Cruzan decision said the "clear and convincing" standard for patient's wishes was not over burdensome. I'd like it to be even higher, ala written, thus proof the patient was well informed and considered all implications.

Thanks for your advice
And, when the law is changed, it may NOT comport with YOUR personal ideas.
Perhaps you should move.
