Schindler Coroner Nixed from Terri Autopsy

Dr. Cyril H. Wecht, the well-known forensic pathologist and coroner of Allegheny County, Pa., told listeners of a morning radio show that he was denied permission to observe Terri Schiavo's autopsy, despite the wishes of her parents.

A medical examiner in Pinellas County, Florida, is conducting an autopsy that could help determine what Schiavo's state of consciousness was and whether she was abused by her husband, as the Schindlers allege. Wecht, appearing on the syndicated America's Morning Show with Quinn and Rose, based in Pittsburgh, said that an investigator working for the Schindler's law firm had called him on Thursday to see whether he would be agreeable to observing the autopsy.

Dr. Wecht told Quinn and Rose he was certainly be agreeable to that, but that several hours later he received word that the medical examiner had declined to give him permission.

Dr. Wecht told the morning hosts that he considered this a mistake, according to Rose Somma Tennent. "He said that, if this were in [his] office, [he] would have said sure - not just because of professional courtesy, but because of the controversy sourrounding this case," Somma Tennet said.

Calls made during the show to the medical examiner's office were not returned.

The results from the autopsy are expected in a few weeks.

IIRC, Greer wrote the order to remove the tube in 2000, after that law was changed by the legislature in 1999. That is when Terri was moved to the Hospice, obviously to off her right away. Then the Schindlers delayed things.

My husband is Jewish and lost family members in the Holocaust. There are many reasons why elderly people come to Florida and die. One reason is that they are old and very sick and maybe it is their time. Others are neglected by family and are so lonely that they fade away when they lose the will to live. Others are over medicated by uncaring Doctors. I could go on for a long time listing all the reasons,but there are just too many to list. My Florida county is the oldest per capita in the state and even though we are a fairly small county we have a huge elderly population. The Doctors in this county and many other areas in Florida are not the greatest quality for the most part,this has a lot to do with malpractice fees and law suits driving out the good Doctors. Florida is in the bulls eye,but most other states still do not compare to it with the quality of living, warts and all.

indicates either severe metastatic neoplastic disease
OR a woman who was severly beaten.

She did not die for more than a decade (without treatment)
and therefore did not have metastatic neoplastic disease.
Ergo, she was severly beaten.

I was just going to ask someone to explain the motivation for this whole conspiracy between judges, attorneys, hospice boards, etc. From what I've learned on FR, you can always follow the money, but I just couldn't quite put all the pieces together as to where the money was being made. BINGO - I think this is it! We've got to get this out to someone who cares and who has both the influence and moral courage to do something about it! Who would that be? Tom Delay???

"Spinal Exam: The patient's exam from a spinal perspective is abnormal. The degree of limitation of range of motion, and of spasms in her neck, is consistent with a neck injury. The abnormal sensory exam, that shows evidence of her hypoxic encephalopathic strokes (right side sensory responses are different from left) also suggests a spinal cord injury at around the level of C4. Her physical exam and videotapes also suggest a spinal cord injury is also present, as she has much better control over he face, head, and neck, than over her arms and legs. This reminds one of a person with a spinal cord injury who has good facial control, but poor use of arms and legs. It is possible that a correctable spinal abnormality such as a herniated disk may be found that could be treated and result in better neurological functioning. This should be looked for, as may be treatable. Thus, there may be an injured disk or spinal cord; the disk injury is more treatable, the spinal cord injury, if present without a disk injury, may be more difficult to treat. A person with a spinal cord injury and hypoxic encephalopathy will need different treatment and rehab recommendations than one who just has a hypoxic encephalopathic.

Interestingly, I have seen this pattern of mixed brain (cerebral) and spinal cord findings in a patient once before, a patient who was asphyxiated."

Neglect and abuse complaints is that Michael Schiavo:

* Has not allowed therapy or rehabilitation since late 1992.
* Has prevented swallowing tests or swallowing therapy since 1993.
* Ordered caretakers not to clean Terri's teeth since 1995, resulting in removal of five teeth in April 2004.
* Placed Terri in hospice in 2000, despite the fact she is not terminally ill.
* Refuses to allow Terri to leave her room. She has not been outside since 2000.
* Ordered doctors not to treat Terri when she had a life threatening infection in 1993 and 1995.

Virtually as soon as Michael Schiavo received the monies from the medical malpractice claim involving his wife, Terri Schindler-Schiavo,
he withheld all therapy and rehabilitation services from her.

Terri Schiavo had sustained a serious brain injury as the result of a suspicious incident in their home in 1990 and in 1992,
her husband had filed claims against several of her former doctors, claiming her “collapse” was caused by a misdiagnosis.
He received over $1.5 million in 1993 including $750,000 which had been specifically earmarked by the trial jury for Terri’s rehabilitation based on a life expectancy of 50 years.
Mary and Bob Schindler Sr., her parents, consulted a St. Petersburg attorney about removing Michael Schiavo as their daughter’s guardian and discussed the case at length with him.
Unfortunately, the Schindlers did not have the amount of money the attorney demanded as a retainer to take the case.
That attorney became the judge in the case-----a totally prohibited conflict of interest.
Thereafter, the attorney-judge approved the hiring of George Felos as the attorney for Schiavo to be paid from the trust fund and the stage was set for her judicial homicide.
The judge wasn’t George W. Greer.
It was Mark I. Shames.

There are 30 or 40 reasons why a bone scan would show an abnormality on a bone. Xrays are required to confirm a fracture. No xrays?

I really had a low opinion of Judges in the past seeing them from a Law enforcement position and the revolving door justice. They have sunk below measure-able standards in my book at this time.
