Confirmed.
My apologies for my earlier ping, YaYa. I was not making a joke of this. At the time Fox News was reporting the Pope had died, then retracted it.
"He asked us Protestants in 1995, in Ut Unum Sint, how he might exercise his office in a way that we could accept, and we have failed to answer."
It is not to late to answer to his successor. The good thing about the Roman Catholic Church is that it cultivates a long memory!
Pax vobiscum.
Please, no wagering.

Favor to ask on behalf of bd.
Please see FR in 2 minutes...lol.
"For me, the Pope will always remain the man he was years ago, straight and tall, striding purposly across the world with his hand out in friendship and love. Every time I think of him, I see him that way."
Me too. But he was all of that and so much more. I'm crying.
Fox News - Mort Kondrake offered how the Pope could have done more to promote Nuns to the Priesthood. Fred Barnes was in agreement with Charles Krauthammer who made some beautiful remarks about Pope John Paul and his dedication to the traditional values and virtues of Christianity.
It was very moving.
Haste makes waste.
Please see FR MAIL! :)
I think it's a bit more than just a nickname.
I think he has done so much for the world, and has served God so completely, that he will be missed terribly.
I don't know whether to be filled with joy that he's finally going home to be with God, or to weep for us because the world will be poorer without him.
I remember a situation over in some South American country where I think the Pope had told the priests to stay out of the politics and one of them was quite a activist and he ignored the Pope's order. The Pope went over there and shook his finger at this priest and the man fell on his knees and hung his head in front of the Pope. They showed it on the news years ago and I was amazed. He just shook his finger with a stern look on his face...it was awesome
"I don't know whether to be filled with joy that he's finally going home to be with God, or to weep for us because the world will be poorer without him."
You hit the nail on the head. I don't know either, I just weep.
I am not going to guess about who it will be, except I don't expect it to be a US or Canadian Cardinal...
Are you saying he waited for 10 years for an answer to that question, and now he's about to run out of time without getting one?
Thank God
Remember, most loving Virgin Mary,
never was it heard
that anyone who turned to you for help
was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence,
though burdened by my sins,
I run to your protection
for you are my mother.
Mother of the Word of God,
do not despise my words of pleading
but be merciful and hear my prayer.
Amen.
I think I would agree with you, unless they want to elevate Archbishop Chaput.
Grant, O Lord of life, that we may savor every season of our lives as a gift filled with promise for the future.
Grant that we may lovingly accept your will and place ourselves each day in your merciful hands.
And when the moment of our definitive "passage" comes, grant that we may face it with serenity, without regret for what we shall leave behind. For in meeting you, after having sought you for so long, we shall find once more every authentic good which we have known here on earth, in the company of all who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith and hope.
- Pope John Paul II
